1st IU B1G game is home on 12/9 against Minnesota, per Rothstein. Probably the best 1st conference game you could possibly ask for. So the early games are Minny at home and Nebraska on the road. Solid chance to get out 2-0.

And also solidifies a hilariously awful pre-New Year’s Assembly Hall schedule. I love the holiday break mini series packages but there’s no shot I’m doing that this year.

IU got routed by Nebraska 3 times last year. I get there has been a lot of roster turnover for both teams, but that game at Lincoln (this squad's first true road game, no less) doesn't strike me as a guaranteed W.

Nebraska and Rutgers are mid-level B1G teams, but both are almost always disproportionally tough road games.

Brother... college is a scam and massively over priced, these schools have money.

Not true at all. UIndy is hanging on by a thread by having no money. W Illinois is almost bankrupt. Few smaller schools are cash flush

I don't really believe that's a lot of the schools, though. And I certainly don't feel bad for them. It's their own doing, if they are actually going broke.

UINDY end WIU are two small schools that I know something about. I went on a recruiting visit to UINDY with one of my grandsons. He was being recruited for wrestling. I had a chance to spend some time talking to the coaches and they all admitted that they can't compete against the facilities of bigger schools. Even suburban high schools in the area had significantly better athletic facilities. My brother-in-law serves as an advisor to the board of trustees and has said that UINDY faces serious financial problems. As a private school, the tuition costs are quite high causing difficulty competing for students. Knowing what I know about them I have a hard time seeing them and similar schools surviving in the future.

My daughter graduated from UIndy, and wishes she'd went somewhere else. What you've said above is absolutely true about them. Definitely not an isolated incident of a school not being able to continue :(

Minnesota will NOT be in the holiday mini series as students are here until Dec 20.

The mini series Big Ten opponent will be whoever they reopen Big Ten play with AFTER the new year. Whoever this is will indeed make or break the package as always, but we won't know who it is until the full conference slate is out.

Second semester starts Jan 13 and the game or games being played in Bloomington between New Years Eve and then are not known other than the Jan. 7 PSU matchup.

The mini series will include the matchups on the 21st of December and 29th of December vs. Chattanooga and Winthrop as well as a conference opponent or two between Jan 1-12.

Thanks for the lesson but I'm aware of how it works. The mini series will almost certainly suck.

Tell me about it. I've been to 3 IU @ NU games. Record? 0-3. Freaking sucks.

Haven't been to Buttgers, but was at the gavin games @ Seton Hall (2017?), ugly loss. New Jersey and Kevin Willard suck too!

My wife got her Masters and Doctorate from UIndy and we'd never recommend anyone ever go there. The terrible thing is not that tuition is high, which it certainly is, the truly terrible thing is what you get for that high tuition. The quality of the education is severely lacking and the administration is poor. IMO, the place cannot close soon enough.

We won't know until the Big Ten game(s) come out. Could be bad. Could be great. A lot of times the early opponent in the package is Ohio State or Wisconsin it seems but could be anyone.

I'll judge the package once I know who the one or two Big Ten teams are and that is the same every season. The holiday games are never good outside whoever the Big Ten opponents are and we don't know who that is yet.

Why is this year different? When has there ever been a good game in it during the non-conference outside of the Kansas game last year which was a fluke?

If you want to say the holiday games are almost always bad I am with you. However, this season is no better or worse than others outside of having Kansas in it last year which significantly enhanced it compared to every other season and might make this time a let down which is fair.

Now it is back to how it was every season prior to 2023-204.

Thanks - Good info.  I always pull up the student break schedule once the Bball schedule is announced to get a preview of what the mini-series package will contain.  You saved me the trouble.

But, the Penn State that you referenced is an away game January 5th at the Palestra in Philadelphia.

I assume there is no info on ticket sale dates out yet for this one? And also safe to assume that sales will primarily be through PSU since it's technically part of their home schedule? This might be a trip I can't pass up.

Yup. PSU is in Philly. Just saying what dates we have for conference play and none of them tell us what Big Ten opponents will be in the holiday package after New Years.
