Transfer Portal w IU Interest

It’s hard to be so sure about the portal or what we need right now until IU has guys enter the portal. Like I can’t even project a bench lol. Im hoping the guys leaving kinda enter the portal soonish personally. Even though I'm sure players have informed the coaches or vise versa.

I think the entire fan base knows what we need.

I guess i disagree. The program isn’t really in a place to turn their nose up at dudes that produced at high major programs. These aren’t the mid major all stars like last year. If I’m Vaaks there are way more places I’m thinking of before considering us

We need 6-7 guys. It’s not realistic to think IU is going to sign 5-6 of the top 50 players in the portal. Fru is absolutely the kind of big last years team missed.

+1.  And as it stands right now, Fru is rated as the 11th best player to declare in the portal.

I mean yes but at the same time we don’t really know what to speculate. At this time everyone is back until it stated otherwise. Which we both know that’s something that can’t happen.

Grad transfers don’t need to wait until the official opening date to put their name in the portal.

I don't know how much I buy this in the NIL era anymore. If IU isn't aiming high and throwing loads of money around to get those players then what are we doing here? There's no reason IU can't land the big fish. They have all the resources they need at this point. If players still refuse to come here then we really need to ask ourselves why.

IU is obviously going to target big fish in the portal. They will also likely land a big fish or two. But you still need to build a roster for next year. We need 4, maybe 5  starters and likely 2 solid bench pieces. IU isn’t the only program targeting big fish this offseason nor are they the only program with money and resources. There isn’t much to sell right now.

We are aiming to be the highest paid bubble team again. Lol.  Whatever, I guess, I’m slowly but surely losing my excitement for our basketball team.  Gonna get a bunch of mid players again.  We’ve already learned we aren’t gonna coach them up, so we need some juice and splash.  This board and IU media will keep the dream alive.  Rinse and repeat.  While other serious programs build serious rosters.  Then we are all surprised when those rosters excel and we don’t.

Fru is a high major player with a 76.5 efg %.

He is also 6’11”, 240, bouncy, runs the floor really well, and started for a top 25-ish team. Looks like he doesn’t play with his back to the basket—lob dunks, transition run outs, and basket cuts when he scores.

Holy hell; if that doesn’t fit the high major big description I’m not sure what does.

The bar isn’t getting high major players.  The bar is getting a team that has a chance to win at the top.  Fru is entry level for that.  If I went through 5’s I want or made a list of best 5’s FRU isn’t high on that list.
