Don’t waste your time giving it back, just burn it.  How about that, I’m like the Geico Gecko, I just saved you time and money!

No matter the situation, I will never root for my team to lose, ever!

lol. No one said that you had to. But I’d love to hear your argument why Tom Allen winning just enough to keep his job another year would’ve been better for the IU football program.

Absolutely. Sometimes you have to lose a battle or two (even sacrifice a battle) to win the war...

Heard this a lot when Crean was in his final days. It got us Archie Miller. Heard the same thing with him...we got Mike Woodson. Who will it get us next?

People can hope for whatever outcomes they want, but when you find yourself repeatedly indulging in this kind of cognitive dissonance, might need to consider if you're wasting your time.

Honestly, unless they miraculously made it to a bowl game, if he would have won 1 or 2 more games, he still would’ve lost his job and even if he would have barely made a bowl game he may still have lost his job.  It was obvious the program wasn’t heading in the right direction.

I think Woodson will soon lose his job too!  Could be this year or next but it will be soon.  I still think they keep him one more year anyway, win or lose.

Maybe Mike Davis?

I think it's really bad optics when you let the white coach get 4 years without making an NCAA tourney (yes we may have gone in 2020) but fire the former player black coach in year 3 after making back-to-back NCAA tournaments. Just my opinion. I know people will say race shouldn't matter but it absolutely does.

Hiring, firing, or keeping someone based off of their race is a symptom of a losing mentality imho.

If it weren't for the former white coach's players, Woodson might already be fired. Woodson hasn't shown the slightest bit of clue on how to construct a roster on his own.

But yes, lets take any and all opportunity to bring race into the equation. The American way these days.

Tom Crean was fired a year after winning the Big 10 and advancing to the sweet 16. Making the ncaa tournament and then getting blown out in the round of 32/64 doesn’t keep your job safe at IU. Or it shouldn’t, at least. 1 tournament win in 3 seasons.

Let the usual crowd write their think pieces about the ‘optics.’ Far better than think pieces about how terrible the team is. Stop worrying about looking good and start worrying about being good. Find a winner.

Let's say Woodson gets canned and we hire a white coach. What are we afraid of? Any "outrage" from fringe groups would likely be short-lived and just become background noise that will disappear completely once we start winning. Worrying about stuff like this isn't how successful organizations operate.

Wow what a world we live in. Keep a guy just because of race

You are right though. Race will matter to some people, and other factors will be ignored. I just hope a coaches race doesn’t matter to those ultimately charged with making the team as successful as possible.

And that's how you keep Mike Davis.

I could have written down that you & Indy would respond. I said to keep him for his 4th year because of his tourney appearances also.

The only people race would matter to are the usual suspects who likely aren't even sports fans. Most real iu fans don't care at all what color the coach is. But the aren't going o fire him anyway for another reason and his name is Quinn.
