Absolutely and if you don't have that mindset to do your prep work long before you start handling your business you're all but guaranteed to fail.

It's not just basketball it is in life too!

Also, with RMK, you didn't just go through the motions! Everything you did was with a purpose and you were stronger as a whole than as an individual!
Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit: team, team, team - no one more important than the other.

Coach Norman Dale: I've seen you guys can shoot but there's more to the game than shooting. There's fundamentals and defense.

Exactly! That's why I said thoughtful focused reps and not just reps. You can do 10,000 and be better than you were, but being mindful and putting real effort into those reps will set you worlds apart from where you started and it will very clearly show in the finished product.

Yes it is, everything you do in life benefits from that mindset! RMK wasn't just teaching his guys how to be great basketball players, but great men in life!

This guy has ruined the program.

I'd like to thank the Ferguson family, Steve and his whole family because he's been a major mentor in my life; the Cook family

He is probably writing the Bosnian a million dollar check today.

Players don’t get NIL money till they enroll though right?

Could be wrong. Don’t hold me to that. But I thought they had to be enrolled first.

I sure as heck don’t see that in MW!  It is hard to believe he played for RMK

NIL is completely separate from the University.  Kid can be hired whenever by whomever.  Could very well give a kid a  “bonus” to announce and he can back out later.

The IU powers that be are well aware we need a new coach.

I wouldn’t bet my mortgage on it.

With that said, I don’t root against IU because I’m a believer in the zen master and the law of unintended consequences. Also, an administration that needs booed into action isn’t one that will be good at hirer a new coach anyways. Basically it is as irrational as it is rational to root against IU, so I just watch with increased apathy.

I know it freaking hurts. I can't hate Woodson because I went back and watched his games under RMK. He was a helluva player and it's just absolutely frustrating to see the product we currently have. Literally nothing he learned under RMK translated to his coaching style or ability. I just don't get it.

Attention to detail, something Woodson lost in translation playing for RMK!

My parents immediately gave me IU themed stuff when I was a baby. Plus a good amount of my family has gone there.

Good for them, I thought you were talking a different type of indoctrination.

Nothing to see here, move along people!

Clearly :( It goes hand in hand with the prep work too. You pay attention to the finer details in your prep work and you will learn much more and you will become much more efficient at what it is you're striving to accomplish. Its importance cannot be stressed enough.

Am I drunk or is common sense coming to life in this thread tonight? I'm sure the answer is, YES!

A colleague gave an interesting observation to me earlier today…the past two games Mike has worn a tie with the opposing team’s colors. He says Mike knows he’s gone. Take it with a grain of salt, but he ain’t lying about the tie colors. It used to be red and only red until now.
My daughter noticed it at iowa. That is more than 2 games ago

Honestly he adapted his coaching from the NBA and zero from RMK.  Coaching in the NBA is not about developing players or game preparation. players are already talented, it’s about setting the starting lineup, substituting, and calling timeouts when teams go on runs.  Basically, there isn’t much coaching in the NBA, at least from what Woodson adapted and learned
