Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Buckner thought he was the right hire, period. You can disagree, but it wasn’t for any other reason. And it’s not Indiana tax payer money that’s been spent.

The fact that we let a guy with a .159 nba winning percentage pick our coach is absurd and it was doomed to fail.

He thought Woody was the right hire because he is his best pal and his NBA career had sputtered out.

It’s also not Quinn’s job to pick the basketball coach.  It’s the AD’s job.  This is organization management 101, there are probably some online courses from Kelley if you need more detail.

This is a case study in organizational failure.  Quinn ruined four seasons and counting of IUBB.

I will take your word as I dont have X. And I agree on the age thing. A couple years ago would have been fantastic but now it seems like we have missed the window.

Exactly regardless if he thought he was the right guy. QB shouldn’t have been making the call

I have a difficult time thinking the hiring of Woodson was anything other than a guy helping his buddy, with a heavy dose of politics thrown in -- a bit of payback for Glass not giving Woody an interview and apparently, pulling a sleight of hand in hiring Archie. 

In no way, shape or form was Woodson qualified for this job. None whatsoever. 

It really is a shame, too -- because people used to remember him as an absolutely fantastic former player. Now, they'll remember him as a very mediocre coach.

I've watched a ton of college basketball this year, so many great matchups so far. However, I don't think I've watched more than 30 minutes total of our games this season. 

Maybe that will change during the conference portion, who knows. But I have no desire to watch us lose by 20+ points to our marquee opponents, nor do I want to watch us stomp on the Sam Houston States of the world. 

 

I get it!  I can’t say the same thing because I have watched every game but the ones on BTN+ and the Gonzaga game because I was getting my Appendix removed.  But it pains me to watch them because that isn’t even close to good basketball we are watching.  We arguably have one of the best rosters in the B10, but we have a severe boat anchor dragging us down named Mike Woodson!

Agreed!  I actually think he’s the worst coach in the B10 and is most likely in the bottom 150 in the nation.  Mike Davis just received got fired and he was better than MW

I’m glad there are still some.  I’m a die hard but have lost my enthusiasm toward watching the games.  Like I stated, I have only missed the B10+ games and Gonzaga because I was in surgery when that game was on.  I will continue to watch, but it is painful 

The last two coaches make it very hard to stay excited when you know neither one is the guy early one. Yet the school sticks with them regardless when we already know how it ends. I know there is almost a 0% chance Woodson makes the elite 8 even with this roster

I genuinely hope we lose tonight and they decide to just let an assistant audition for his next job or audition to stay on staff.  There might be no good gained from firing him but I also don’t see a downside.  We fired Sampson mid season for texting too much.  Might god let’s have some standards

He could say much worse. And we saw it last time: you only have so much political capital to spend chasing pie-in-the-sky candidates before you run out of capital and publicly the job reeks of desperation.  
 

We literally watched this unfold last time and is allegedly the reason we stuck with Woody. I’d probably pass on wasting any energy on Steven’s this time around.
