Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Being an “actual fan” doesn’t mean constantly finding reasons to push back on any blame/constructive criticism whatsoever being assigned to the HC or staff. Is it overkill at times? Sure, people are fed up and want better results. They feel a lack of accountability. So they’re ready for a change. Some complaints and gripes are more valid than others, but it’s the nature of message boards to pile on.

There are people who post regularly on this board who would rather see IU lose than Woodson win. Think about that.

Not rooting for losses, but not watching and counting the days until Mediocre Mike is sent packing.

He’s talking about me. He seems incapable of understanding that sometimes losing in the short term is better for the program. You don’t have to look any further than IU football to see how true that is. Losing our last three games last year by a combined 10 points last year was the best thing that could’ve happened to IU football. No way Allen gets fired if he wins them to make a bowl, and no way Allen is sitting at 10-0 right now as the IU head coach. Idgaf if some Mike Woodson disciple on a message board thinks that means I’m “not a fan”.

The decision to fire Allen came well before the last game. Let me guess, you were boycotting those games as well?

So brave

So now that they are asking for money and calling us the Best Fans in College Basketball, does that mean we are True Fans again or just True Fans for today?

Now we know “True Fans” are the ones that open their checkbooks and not question the mighty Woody.

Contrary to your fiercely held belief, your version of fanhood isn’t the only version out there.

Weird way of saying you're a miserable person. To each their own I guess.

Being so personally traumatized by a basketball coach to the point of making an effort not to watch isn't fanhood but rather a more deeper issue it would appear.

It’s really not that deep lol. I don’t like Mike Woodson, his teams aren’t very good, and his style of basketball is ugly to watch. More often than not, not watching is a more enjoyable experience.

The time you've committed to something that isn't enjoyable is....well it's something.

Yep. While my financial status does not begin to approach that of the Cooks or the Simons, I have ceased my meager donations to IU athletics (including traveling to BTown to watch the Hoosiers) until Mediocre Mike is gone. I have also passed on this year's schedule poster, breaking my string that's been intact since 1978.

Best fan donation amount is $1000

True fan donation amount is $5000, a snifter of Scotch and 3 Cuban cigars and/or sitting in for CMW on 3 hrs of recruiting visits.

Quite the angry individual.

I think everyone is just done seeing season after season wasted with little optimism for change in the future until THE CHANGE is made. 21 wins as a ceiling and first round out doesn’t cut it. Hope we’re wrong about this season - but the days of ‘give em 4 yrs to bring in their own  guys’ and the optics of having a quick trigger finger are long gone. This is big time professional sports…and we’ve smoldered the brand and product for far too long. Bring in someone who is willing to bet on themselves and not feel like the job is an entitlement.

We’re all on page 1183 of a message board talking about firing a guy b/c he hasn’t shown success and is arrogant. Of course there’s going to be anger.
