A Case for Dusty May

Recommended Posts

Gotta be a good recruiter at HS level and the portal. I care less about player development. Get talent and a lot of it. Even Mike Davis could make a NC game with a deep talented roster. Crean and Woody have both been pretty decent with talent. We haven’t been able to consistently bring in enough talent since the mid 90s.

I respectfully disagree. There have been years where there is not enough talent, but this year’s team ought to be able to win with the talent on the floor. They aren’t being utilized well and maybe not enough talent at the 1&2, but 3-5 should be able to stack up with anyone.

Player development is the key aspect of a good coaching staff. You can have all the talent in the world but if they don't develop as a team you will lose

Player development and roster construction is an absolute must at this level of basketball. This isn’t the NBA.

If you want to watch more rebuilding that’s your choice, but I’m ready for fun IU basketball again. We haven’t had a fun season since 2016. I want a coach who can win immediately.

Well I am sure Dolson is at his desk right now thinking --- "well I need to make sure Hoosierfan2017 will be excited about this next hire."   :)

Just find a real winner. If we want to pay top 10 money. Get a top 10 coach and that’s what the fanbase wants.

But It’s Dusty May for them and a blind man can see it.

Ignoring your obvious attempts to inflame, if Dolson isn’t thinking about how to hire a coach who can win immediately then he might as well shut the program down.

He’s probably thinking Dusty is winning 30 some games at FAU, so the Big Ten will be a little tougher but he’ll be able to recruit better so he should get 25 wins a season here. Plus he already has same amount of final fours as Pearl.

The bolded isn’t true, but this is probably the level of analysis Dolson operates at.

My attempts?  Find a little humor man.

"Shut the program down."  Hyperbole much.

The problem isn't winning right away.  The problem is consistency.  If we wanted up and down seasons, we could have kept Crean -- he gave us plenty of that.

Whoever it is me, you and everyone else will be here through it all.   Spin the wheel and hope the next one works out that makes the fan base happy.    Don’t even know who the next coach will be but  can guarantee you they will have at least 1 down year and we will all be on here working through it

Too many Trey Galloways and not enough Jalen Hood Schifinos over the last 30 years. Dusty May has a much better chance of being a CAM than a RMK.

I think things like this is part of our problem. If everyone is waiting for the next RMK then you will be waiting forever. There are not many coaches who has ever been as good as RMK so in all likelihood we won't ever have that. Not saying we won't ever compete again but you can win without having the next RMK

Most fans don’t expect another RMK but they have a fresh memory of mid major flavor of the month.

Like I showed earlier most hires go from mid major to a power 5 conference. There are very few who go power 5 to another power 5 team. Most of the all time coaches went from Mid major to their power conference job. With your criteria IU shouldn't have even looked at RMK
