I know I'm not the only one to notice, but Leal was literally telling multiple dudes where to go on offense when he came in. Talked, talked, talked. Yet he will sit the bench rest of the season when there isn't a reason he shouldn't get some run to see what more he could do with these guys. Gunn just ain't ready yet I don't think. Not yet.

Leal in mop up duty/when we've got a rotation guard injured is one thing (fine in that role). Playing over Gunn? I don't think he can affect winning better and I think if we are going to be dangerous in March, we need to get Gunna and Banks as much development time as possible. No thanks to playing him over Gunn at this point for me.

I still can't shake the feeling, but it felt like we hit more 3s than we did. I guess I need to watch it again.

You're not wrong, there were 2-3 three's that were reversed to two's in the first half - weird court layout didn't help much.

Are you saying we need to take more 3s or make more 3s? Lol.

I don't think anyone will argue with the idea of making more 3s. But I don't think we necessarily need to shoot more of them.

If we shoot the same volume more efficiently, we'll still be able to space the floor because defenders will have to respect the jumper. But the offense isn't about kicking out for 3s, it's been made clear we will score around the basket as a first option.

Yes, shoot more. 5-10. There are so many times we have guys open and they don't look to shoot, shot fake for no reason or drive. Throw it up. Hand down, man down.

They reviewed and took 2 of them away. Our toes were on the line for another 2. If gallo could miracle a shot in from deep our 3 point stats would look better for this game imo

I hear you!

16 is enough takes.

4 is not enough makes

Leal can without a doubt have an impact on winning and moreso than Gunn. Because Leal is probably a better defender, ball mover, communicator, higher IQ and knows the system better.

*checks score and box score
We shot pretty badly from outside and they dominated anyway.
Against Harvard......Harvard. He's not wrong. Take more, hopefully make more, and the defense is at least considering it as a threat. That means more room for Ware and Reneau inside. We have guys that can make them but hard to get a rhythm when you only get 2 attempts per game as a shooter.

And doesn't take a ton of bad shots.

Okay— but we did take more. 16 of them plus another 4 that we intended to be threes but mucked up by standing on the line. I’m with Home Jersey; that’s enough takers, but we need more makers.

I don't understand why we would jump to plan B when plan A still works? Keep pounding it inside until we have to kick it out. Again, I want us to keep taking post shots from our two most efficient offensive players. When that doesn't work, we adjust to proper ball rotation or slashes to the basket. As an offense, we want the defense to break down and our best way of doing that is making the other team double the post. Also, I personally didn't see anyone hesitate taking an outside shot when available tonight.

I'll agree on attempts tonight that were "intended" to be 3's. Reality is we still only attempted 16 actual 3's. It has been a trend that is holding us back. Now let's roll with what was intended. That only supports that theory because, as you said, Ware and Reneau did dominate inside tonight. Bottom line is that this team is capable enough to be attempting 18-23 3's per night. Being ranked 343rd in attempts is a formula for losing.

Plan A is working against 131, 135, 159, 232 and 331.   Plan A didn’t work at all against 3.   Moving forward the odds of Plan A working against upper level teams isn’t great.   If IU as a program wants to get to a place to compete nationally with the upper level programs they will need to go to plan B at some point.   That’s just my opinion though.  Roster isn’t built for plan B but man plan A isn’t ideal for todays game

The roster looked a little better built with Mgbako shooting confidently and Banks hitting two of them.

Galloway needs to be shooting 200 a day in Cook Hall to get back to his last year status as a guy who makes wide open shots.

I agree. We all know he can shoot it better too.

A few things in the box score that jumped out a bit:

12 turnovers….seemed like more while watching the game

57% from the field…..nice.

20 assists…also nice

Ware was 12-13 from the field including 1-1 from the 3.

Gallo was 0-4 from the three which is better than I thought (it seemed like 0-6 or 7)

Banks had 6 points and 4 boards in only 10 minutes.

Gunn only played 3 minutes.

We out-rebounded them 34-26. Yes it’s Harvard but at least we got more boards.

1.  Didn't think I'd see Banks look to shoot the three so much.

2.  Mack is a really nice player for Harvard.

3.  Don't know how much anyone picked up on it, but there was a two possession span in the second half where Woody brought Galloway to the bench and Cupps was playing the point and Mgbako played the 2 guard.

4.  Can't believe that Altman couldn't get anything out of Ware.  If there is any better advertisement to a big looking to go to IU (looking at you, DQ) it's been the play of Ware and Reneau.

5.  That's two excellent games in a row for Walker.  So far he's deserved more minutes than Sparks.

6.  Hopefully X is okay.....really need him.  Good to get Cupps some quality minutes playing against a very good guard, though.

7.  During this last sentence, refs reviewed and took another three away from us.
