The phone calls aren't but lying to the NCAA still is. That is what we really got in trouble for. That and "lack of institutional control."

The NCAA was only involved because we acted like cowards and self-reported. Cant lie to the NCAA if they aren’t asking questions in the first place.

But the mess was our doing.  That’s not even a violation anymore.

Agreed.  But it set the program back in immeasurable ways.  I give Crean a lot of credit for stepping in, playing with baseball players, and get IU back on the stage.  Extremely disappointed he couldn’t get over the hump and sustain it.  Then we took a dump with Miller and here we are.

You are connecting dots that make zero sense.

Players on good teams aren’t affected by social media but bad teams are?  You have no idea how individual players are impacted. Just an inexplicable take.

I think the point is if you’re the type of person who is affected by what others think, then stay off the cesspool that is social media.

Wait, this team can't shoot the ball and it's because of the fans?  They don't hustle and it's because of the fans?  They can't rebound, defend the three, play with a high iq...and it's because of the fans?

Interesting take.

Where did I say it influences what we see on the court. I think it influences the caliber of coaching candidate that is interested in the IU job.

One program has a bunch of Tik-Tok all-stars and fragile egos who run and cower at the first sign of adversity while the other is a top 5 metric team who does nothing but beat the snot out of their opponents. I’ll let you connect the dots as to which program isn’t affected by social media

Ding, winner! Can’t believe that actually had to be explained to somebody.

I think Chris Beard would absolutely kill it here.  He would be loved by the old guard fans and I believe he could bring the recruits as well.  Texas was about to be a monster before his demise there in my opinion.  The guy can coach.  I have no faith though if things go south even more for Woody that the admin would make a hire like that.

I am an old guard fan and would never want a women beater coaching my team

It was but now that is not an NCAA violation, lying is never good.  Wasn’t lack of institutional control our own violation, not an NCAA violation?

Also he was already on probation for doing the same thing so that made it even worse

If you’re going to hire a guy who is an habitual offender, you better be ready to go down with the ship. Ineptitude at its finest.

That is why I never thought he should have been hired in the first place. If it wasn't for Herbert he wouldn't have been hired. If the reports are true our AD wanted to hire John Beilein but Herbert wanted Sampson or a minority

I don't remember getting hit for lack of institutional control.  Am I misremembering?

People keep saying this, but he was never found guilty of it!  What happened to innocent until proven guilty?  And don't give me all the BS she had the proof on her crap.  For all we know it was weird sex kinks and when she sobered up, realized she didn't want it publicized?

Honestly, I would take Crean back now over Woodson.  I just wish Woodson would show even half the emotion and excitement on the sideline like Crean did.  Heck, I would be happy if he got a tech called on him occasionally when we get hosed on a call and to fire his team up!

I think that was on the table and that’s what forced IU’s hand. Of course it’s never put on the table if IU doesn’t self-report in the first place. Just amateur hour at its finest.
