We are competing for longer, sometimes. We've had several games where that old optional e reared its ugly head again.

Yes, but not for the whole game like under that last turd.  Improvement.  I think people forget how incredibly bad we were under him.

X became bi-polar again!  I thought he put that behind him?  He made too many ill-advised bad decisions down the stretch that cost us any chance to get any momentum in this game

Just heard on Assembly Call that X tweeted that his grandfather had passed away

Talent guys and gals. Look back at the 2016 team which was the last time we were good. 5 guys that played a least some in the NBA. Compare that to this roster. No comparison. We need talent!

I'd add leadership to that. Was that Yogi's senior year? Yogi went through the ups and downs of an IU ball player but finally figured it out. Dude went full refuse to lose his last year.

I was hoping either Race and/or Trayce would step up this season as a leader. Neither one seems all that interested in taking on a leadership role. X would probably the next most likely with the fire he has but that's definitely not been focused in the right manner. He was having a good little stretch for a few games.

Maybe next season we'll find a leader.

If Galloway starts and plays 31 minutes you know our guard play isn’t up to par. Over the next 2-3 years if Galloway starts and plays 30 minutes you know we didn’t improve guard talent.

Or he continued to improve his play to the point that he earns it

That was incredibly bad, like Michigan game at home bad and PSU on the road was almost to that level. What's crazy is we're giving a little better effort, with more talent, against a worse schedule, and our offense is turrble.

Edit: the worst part of the whole damn thing is we're comparing very little e and e to a little more. That's where we are as a program. There isn't even a standard baseline of e and e you give and that's sad. I was really hoping the benching earlier in the season would do something but we have zero player leadership and accountability.

At this point in the season we have a pretty good handle on who and what this team is. All we can do is ride it out. I like what I'm seeing from CMW. If the Northwestern game costs us a tournament bid, then so be it. CMW is about more than the record this season. He's about a program of sustainable success. As hard as it is at this point to say, patience is our friend.

Stop talking about that Michigan game!  It doesn't fit my narrative.

One blowout game.  Still better than that nose picker.

The offense will never be fixed as long as the ball goes to TJD in the post and he stands there for what seems like an eternity before making any move. By the time he figures out, oh crap there is 3 defenders, we are so deep into the shot clock it doesn’t matter if the ball comes back out. We have to stop with the post focus and run something other than a perimeter weave. It’s great to have an inside presence like we have but for that to be the focus is like running on first down every drive all season long, guess what the defense knows what is coming! Even Woody seemed to acknowledge it in the post game. He said, paraphrasing, that even if the back court moves while Trayce has the ball in the post the defenders don’t move with the cutter, we are going to have to do something about that. Yeah cause they know the ball isn’t coming out and they stay there to dig on TJD!

That is certainly a take.  Quick question, did you think Archie Miller was a good hire initially?

I see a massive improvement from Archie.  It certainly isn't to the level we want to be, but there is massive improvement

I did think he was a good hire. He wasn’t my top choice but he was top 3. I was wrong there. I’m not really seeing much improvement besides defense. Offense is brutal

Agreed on most of it. We are who we are and there's not a damn thing we can do to change that. Glad Woody did what he felt was right at the time. I don't think it costs us a tourney bid and if it does it's on the players and not Woody.

I would feel much better if we would have seen little adjustments throughout the season or improvement from the off-season. It's not there and I think the suspensions tell us a lot of the reasons why.

If you thought Archie was a top 3 hire and were wrong, could you be wrong here too?

I'm just asking you not to give up yet.  There are issues no doubt, but let's see where we finish this season at least.

This was so painful to watch in the first half. The ball went into Trayce and Gallo kind of started heading to the paint and Race kind of started jogging towards the paint from the weak side. If their defenders would have fallen down, took a nap, and then got back up neither Gallo nor Race would have created enough separation to do anything. This has been an issue since EARLY in the season that hasn't been addressed.

When was the last time this program did that? Bad as it sounds it’s probably an improvement over the last couple years actually winning those games.    Archie’s first year was the last time IU finished .500 or better in conference.  That year IU feasted on the bottom half.   Difference this year is IU actually has a chance at feasting on the bottom and still have a chance to get in while that year they were so far from the bubble it didn’t matter they feasted on the bottom

We aren’t even winning some that I believe we should be and have the talent to. Penn state on the road, Northwestern on the road (yes I know we had suspended players so he gets a pass for that one), wisconsin on the road was indefensible. This is a new year and we have different/improved players. We’re more talented right now then we ever were under archie and we’re squarely on the bubble again. We’re better at PG, have the best version of Race Thompson we’ve ever had, and about as close to the ceiling of TJD we will get, and yet here we are again.

Looks like we might get a chance at revenge against Michigan or Iowa in the BTT, if we can hang on!
