No, if you are referring to Phinisee I have 4 years of proof that he is a liability and a motion, spacing, shooting liability. He kills any chance we have of improving

So does not having a single point guard on the floor.

PU is way deeper and have parts that compliment each other. Very different than IU

Not only do they complement each other they know their role and they play to it.

Edit: They also typically play with a different level of effort. You could say they have a winning culture.

What makes Phinisee a point guard? Just because that is what is next to his name? He doesn’t do anything that Leal can’t.

And Johnson should be playing 30+ so it would be a very limited window where we didn’t have someone on the court that doesn’t have “pg” next to their name

Food for thought for everyone -- Tarvik stats:

Shooting:  first, dunks or 'close 2s';  then 'far 2s';  then three pointers.  I'll have to look up their definition of close 2's but am guessing its five or six feet and in:

TJD:  121/160 (76%), 13/39 (33%), 0/2 (0%)

Race:  50/60 (83%), 18/32 (56%), 3/18 (17%)

Geronimo:  19/32 (59%), 6/11 (55%), 3/11 (27%)

Leal:  5/5 (100%), 0/0, 5/15 (33%)

Johnson:  27/42 (64%), 7/30 (23%), 9/25 (36%)

Durr:  3/5 (60%), 5/12 (42%), 0/1, (0%)

Lander:  6/8 (75%), 0/3 (0%), 3/9 (33%)

Galloway:  2/3 (67%), 1/2 (50%), 1/4 (25%)

Bates:  5/10 (50%), 9/18 (50%), 11/33 (33%)

Phin:  6/16 (38%), 3/15 (20%), 8/26 (31%)

Kopp: 1/4 (25%), 16/40 (40%), 16/40 (40%)

Stewart:  0/1 (0%), 3/11 (27%), 28/59 (48%)

Anthony Leal playing the point in Big Ten play would not be pretty.

Y'all know my opinion of Lander, but if Phinnissee isn't backing up X at point, it better be Lander.

Since he has ruined the flow of our offense since 2018

NOOOOOOOOOO (covers ears and screams

I disagree—he’s been much better this year and makes our defense a team strength

True Woody. True.

When the hell did Phin turn into a Verdell Jones-like board punching bag?

Starting Phinisee means walking the ball up the court at a sloths pace, over dribbling outside the arc without purpose, not being able to get his teammates nor himself to spread the floor, not being a great passer, not being a good 3 point shooter, mid-range shooter nor able to make his layups.

it means losing and losing in a slow paced paper cut type death way

Don’t start him at the point! He’s a sloth at the point and pretty effective next to X

Jordan maybe. Phinisee is fine where he's at. Need a ball handler off the bench and he's not scoring near enough for how much he has the ball to be thrusted in the starting 5.

So your solution to overcoming a sloth's pace is to play Leal at point?

Damn, throwing shade at Verdell Jones and the guy's been dead for three years.*

*not really, but that's the kind of shade Verdell always got.

Regardless of whether he plays the 1-5, he is a liability and 4 years of him being on the court says as much.

I don’t mean this like “he as a human” but he as a player is a “loser”. He has played more minutes in indiana losses than anyone on the team over the past 4 years, the worst 4 years in indiana basketball history.

We’ve seen what playing him big minutes means. Go back and review his career, it’s been bad, really bad - lots and lots of losses, loses where IU was blown out and scored in the 50s and his inability to lead on offense, make others around him better and make things happen is a huge reason

How about the shade that Devonte Green got??? That dude essentially won 2 games by himself his senior year and there were several posters counting the days until he was gone. We've needed some of that outside shooting since he left and based off last night's performance are still in need of. Indiana HS guys are getting far too much slack than those from outside the state, in my mind. I.E. Lander, Phinisee

He moves the ball, knows where he wants to pass it before it hits his hands - ball moves faster than your feet
