Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB @ Syracuse - 11/30/21 @ 7:00 on ESPN2

Pessimistic me says that’s a bad loss. Sure they put up some fight, but that’s a game you have to win against a mediocre team.

We lose @Wisconsin and Notre Dame is a 50/50, then it’s a dogfight.

That one was huge for so many reasons. Notre Dame is very similar to Syracuse this year in roster makeup.

Hearing Rob hurt his leg again. Not super reliable source but…

Wouldn’t surprise me since KL was sitting the entire game and then all the sudden gets pressure late game minutes when X fouled out. I was wondering why but Rob having an injury could be the answer.

Tipping point for notre dame could be neutral court. Any hope at Wisconsin is they have to play all 40 minutes

We basically went for the 2PT conversion pressing at the end. Didn’t want it to go for a 3OT, win it with a steal or give up a bucket.

We lost this game in the first half. We have to get better defending the three. We left shooters wide open on extremely basic plays.

Might be considered a bad loss, but I like the fight the team put up the last 30 minutes of the game. Give me that team everyday of the week and twice on sundays and you win far more of them than you lose. Turnovers/points off turnovers were just too detrimental to overcome

Phin seemed to have Michael Penix complex.  Oh so excited about him as a freshman and then injured ever since and never improved.

Final possession in OT was a travesty. Defense all game was a travesty. Our offense in general was incredibly good. Can’t blame that foul at the end. Kopp barely got touch on his attempt the possession before. Ticked, because that one was really important.

Kopp actually got fouled pretty good. He didn't get hit on the shot itself, but Boeheim didn't give him room to land and when Kopp came down, there was obvious contact.

Not a morale victory guy..but dang, way to fight through this. In years past it seemed this team would get down early and just quit. It's hard to beat a team when they make threes. Syracuse has a very good backcourt. I think they are better than their record is. Can't turn the ball over 26 times like Indiana did. My thoughts..

1) Find me a better college basketball player than Trayce Jackson-Davis. He is a grown man out there. SO glad he is okay. I thought he was done at first.

2) Lander gave good minutes. Yes, he made mistakes but still.

3) Kopp and Stewart showed us what they can do. Well done. Their confidence will only go up.

4) Race almost had a freaking triple double.

5) X has to stay out of foul trouble.

6) Why no Geronimo?? He barely played. After the Seton Hall game I thought he'd explode.

I hope this team is better for this game. This is why I think all college basketball teams should play a road game in a tough environment before conference season starts.
