Had 14-13-6 in his first college game and followed that up with 5 rebounds in 9 minutes in his second game against a top 5 team i don’t think he has been pushed around at all. He only got out rebounded by 2 players, 1 of which is likely the ncaa player of the year and he only played 9 minutes. - very effective in his minutes Quote

Hopefully his school has a good lifting program. I know many hear probably played HS ball too. When I was a freshman I was 6’2” and 157 lbs. after 3 years in a good weight program I graduated at 6’3” 190 lbs…there’s a good chance he fills out and the skill he has will be a great combination. Yeah, the way recruiting is now we’re seeing 15/16 year old kids and trying to compare them to guys in their 20s. BTW, my son was 5 foot flat when he started high school and 5’8” at the end of his freshman year. Was the worst player on the tennis team when he started. He was 6’3” when he graduated and played college tennis. jonz44, GloryDays, HoosierAloha and 5 others 8 Quote
MikeRoberts Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Holmgren pushed around again with 11-6-4-3. If only he packed on the weight. He’s going to be the freshmen of the year at 7’0”” 195, god help him Quote

The kid is is the 3rd beat player on the #1 team in the country and would be the best player on 300+ division one basketball teams. He’s very good and very likely the best freshmen in the country. if Tamar Bates was putting up those numbers I’m pretty sure IU fans would be geeked and not dismissive Quote

He's also not going to top the list as best freshman putting up 9 ppg which is what he's currently averaging. Against Texas he had 2 points. The jury is still out imo on whether he can hold his own against power 6 schools. Quote

Porzingis is 7-3, 240 and Durant is 6-10, 240, for example. Not being argumentative... really curious because right now he looks like he might be perimeter oriented. Quote

He will probably be somewhere near the size Kevin Durant was when he entered the league - 210lbs - averaged 20+ as a rookie at that weight. he will naturally gain weight as he gets older but don’t think it has much of anything to do with his success now or in the future. Holmgren is a different kind of player in that his non-scoring game (which is solid) is behind the rest of his game. He can guard three positions because of his length and is long enough to still block shots even if someone backs him down. He could end the season averaging 4 blocks and 4 assists. I’m having trouble coming up with anyone who ever did that in college, much less a freshman MikeRoberts 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 Last night Frederica Academy was beaten by Brantley County 43 - 32. Jobe finished with 8 pts.; 6 reb; 2 stl; 2 blk; 4 TO. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 Frederica defeated Habersham 59 -38. It was 22-9 at the end of the 1st Q and Frederica was never challenged. I had Jobe with 11 pts. on 5-8 FG; 1-3 on 3s; 0 FT; 5 reb; 3 asst; 2 TO; 1 blk. The game stream was off line for the first 4 min. of the game and the score was 10-0 when it came online and I have no idea if any of those first 10 points were Jobe's. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 15, 2022 Author Posted January 15, 2022 If ever a game needed a running clock it was this one. Frederica (12-3) overwhelmed Bulloch Academy 71-27. No idea how accurate my stats are as it was really hard to stay focused on the game but I had Jobe with 31 pts on 12-18 FG; 6-10 on 3s; 1-1 FT; 7 reb; 2 asst; 3 stl; 4 blk; 0 TO. At most I think Jobe saw 21 minutes of action. jepwatso 1 Quote
