woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Guys these attacks that Archie wasn’t deserving of the gig are off base. Many programs and people around the game all said that IU made a great hire. It didn’t work out, but it doesn’t mean we have to be bitter at him. Just replace the guy and we move on. HoosierAloha Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Look at other IU programs.. Football soaring (relative to the past) Men's Soccer doing what they do (replaced a coach when he didn't sustain the winning ways) Women's Basketball Track/Field Swimming Women's Soccer is ranked How are they able to identify coaching talent in those sports and provide what the coach needs to win but miserably fail at men's basketball? Who is making these hires for the men's basketball program? It's almost like they want to try but they don't. When Archie is gone, this year or next, and they hire a solid but not great coach, who is that on? Is that on the basketball program? We should blame them? Who is doing the ******* hirings and seeing that they either ******* succeed or fail? It's on the mother ******* administration! They can magically be good in other sports but the one ******* program that stood out as THE program somehow can't find traction. I don't believe in coincidences. That's a bunch of horseshit. I'm not telling people what to think but open your ******* eyes!! IF they wanted IU to return to glory they could make that happen. The 4/5 coaches in 21/22 years says they're not going out of their way to accommodate a coach that could take this once badass program back to the top, where it belongs! My first reaction was that this is reflective of the interest in basketball down in Waco and while that is true from a fan size it is also important to point out that $100 million came from a single donor. if you are able to pull in $100 million from a single donor I suspect the school is going to be able to throw a lot of money at Drew to keep him https://www.baylor.edu/givelight/index.php?id=969580 He is going to have to want the Indian job for more than financial reasons. Just a matter of time before Baylor has a lot of wins vacated and Drew gets a show cause. Stuhoo 1

His first 3 years he was my least favorite player on the team. He makes me think that if he could finally shoot it maybe Lander will eventually too Honestly, my least favorite player of all time was Dakich.....and that had nothing to do with anything he did after he graduated. Dude simply wasn't very good. Still remember the game after the North Carolina game that we won (where he gets credit for 'shutting down Jordan.....Jordan scored 13 points in 26 minutes while in foul trouble') in the tournament, he got his pocket picked against Virginia in what ended being the game losing play in a 50-48 loss. thebigweave 1

This seems like it might be about something I posted. I’m not bitter and there’s nothing personal — I think it’s even possible Archie could be successful elsewhere. Maybe he’ll be luckier, maybe he’ll learn from this, maybe it’s just a bad context. I don’t think it’s unfair to critique the process that led to the hire AND the idea around CBB at the time that he was an obvious great coach. If we don’t recognize the error — which in my opinion overvalued connections and especially the 2014 tournament run — then we might make the same mistake again.
Hoosierfan2017 Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 A visually ugly that ends in a loss because the other team wanted it more. Sums up the Archie Miller era. Two more games! Hopefully.

HoosierDYT Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Archie definitely looks exhausted on the sidelines...maybe the mutual parting of ways this offseason is more plausible than I thought Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners thebigweave, Stuhoo and Rookie33 3
Trish Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Just don’t know why a good coach at a good program would come here at this point. It’s a step back program these days. thebigweave 1

Even before he started having success at Baylor, he was voted in a poll of 100 D1 coaches as the dirtiest coach in D1. I live in the Valpo area and I can tell you that there was always a lot of talk about it here when he was coaching VU and their 'incredible pipeline' to foreign players. Indiana already knows first hand about his tactics since he sent a text to Hanner Perea's high school coach threatening to have Perea deported if he didn't sign at Baylor. https://www.insidethehall.com/2010/10/12/baylor-in-hot-water-over-perea-recruitment/
Trish Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Some notes from tonight - This is the least active I’ve seen Archie on the sideline. I’ve never seen him sit down as much as I did tonight. Odd - He was extremely short in the post game presser. Frustrated, nothing new for coaches after losses but notable as he’s usually more responsive. HoosierDYT 1
