The tweet from Coaching Changes (who are super plugged in and usually have stuff early) says that they have heard it is contracted. Meaning it’s already signed and done and the daughter stuff is not an issue if it’s Brad.

hmmmmm

I wasn't saying Scott 100% had his guy when he made the move on woody. I have previously thought that but with me believing brad said no obviously that is not the case. This message was saying that you know who is available when you make the move. That was all.

You don’t think it’s Stevens anymore? I missed that

Also this account typically is very good about clarifying how many sources and the quality of those sources. They say this one is “unimpeachable”. If this person has heard it is contracted already, that would make me very excited.

My question is and I honestly don’t know so anyone that does, please share. If it is contracted/signed as he mentions here and as was circulating yesterday locally, how could I currently employed NCAA coach sign a contract while still coaching games for another school? Maybe signed a letter of intent or something?

Well, I think the insinuation here would be that the person in question is not currently coaching and would be free to sign on his own timeline.

Yeah, I’m not buying this is the big reason. I don’t know their family dynamics but if Stevens said, I really want to coach at IU, but hey, you have another 1.5 years of HS left, so I’ll stay if that’s what you want. I gotta admit, I’d be disappointed if my daughter said, then we are staying. Not saying kids aren’t a factor. Just saying I don’t believe that is THE factor.

Right but if you already know what is best for your kid you dont ask that question. I did have a conversation like this with my daughter though.  She was going into her senior year and I had a Dad rule (that only my wife and I knew) that I would give them veto power during a move while in HS.  The veto though was not voted on by them but buy us and how we thought the move could impact them.  Had a few moves in between their HS years and avoided making one during the HS years until 2022.  My daughter played soccer and had some "mean girl" issues with a few of the teams and had finally gotten back in with a strong team that was not mean/catty.  She braved the 2 years prior like a champ but seeing her flourish again with a healthy team caused me to decide for her.  I took the job, worked some remotely and travelled a bunch her senior year and learned to snap to stay in contact.  It worked well enough because it was only 1 year.

BS daughter may be in a completely different spot.

I don't know either but there have been CFB coaches that coach a bowl game after accepting another job. May be the same here.

Especially without the current school knowing. I find it hard to believe that we signed a coach to a contract and the current school is simply oblivious to it while the coach is going through the tournament. But, maybe that can happen.

So if coaching changes is reliable. Big if! If it's contracted it can't be a current head coach correct? Wouldn't that be a major bad look to their current employer?

Depends on coaching changes definition of contracted

Clearly I don't know but I'd be willing to bet that happens more often than any of us would think.

Yea, but there is a lot of legal stuff behind that and most coaches avoid it. Most recent one to my knowledge was Lincoln Riley signing his Contract with USC during the regular season.

I listened to the Tom Crean interview with the Hysterics (I can’t stand them but just wanted to listen to him, and it was absolutely worth a listen) and he described how the hiring process went down with IU.

They met at a neutral site away from Milwaukee and Bloomington, in a hotel. Everything very hush-hush. The deal was in place immediately after his Marquette team was knocked out of the tournament. There had been backchannel discussions before in-person meetings. Marquette didn’t know any of it was going on until he’d signed.

And that I can see. It’s the still coaching part.

Oh man, so it could be someone coaching.
