You keep not addressing this- facilities, big ten, play style, campus life with a football team that is a winner and not dead last, etc they also WIN

all those schools have great NiL too. You have to try read hard not to understand this.

So Duke, NC and Kansas all have winning football teams.  May want to tell them.  Come on man.

To me we are a blue blood but not elite program at this time. To me when I hear blue blood it is about the history of the program and their accomplishments over a long period of time. To me an elite program is how your program is currently perceived. The problem is today's kids don't care about history but they care about the present.

Historically IU is absolutely a blue blood, few programs can match what IU has done and for a while you could argue IU was the top program in the country.  That was before recruits today were born, in their lifetimes IU has largely been a dumpster fire.

Besides the tournament results I would love to have their regular season results. The question is this if you tell me with either scenario we don't win a championship which season would be more entertaining.

1) go like 26-5 and win the conference but lose on the first or second round

2) go 19-12 finish 6th in the conference but go to the sweet 16 or even the elite 8.

Would you rather be happy for 4 months and have 1 bad day or do you want have a stressful 4 months and have a good 2 weeks

26-5 and the final four?  :)

Appears to be Tennessee for Knecht. I have zero clue how they are going to make their scholarship numbers work. Amazes me that Barnes was able to sell that playing time to two good transfers.

I wouldn't go that far just yet.  It could be Knecht was seriously considering committing to Tennessee and then Ledlum committed, putting playing time at more of an issue.  Knecht is really a 3 and Ledlum a 3/4, but I think Ledlum playing a 4 at a power 5 level might be an issue with him being 6'6" and more of a below rim player.  My gut tells me that Knecht is torn right now, though, and might have been leaning Tennessee.

Just a lot of moving parts right now at both Oregon and Tennessee.  Oregon brings in Oquendo -- who is a 2 -- a couple of days after Quincy Guerrier -- who's a 3/4 -- enters the portal.  My gut told me at the time Guerrier entered because Knecht was going to commit to Oregon.  But the Oquendo signing puts a little wrench in that.  Knecht is really a 3, although in interviews he views himself as a 2.

Actually closer to a roller coaster.  Some of the Crean teams where flat out good and fun to watch.  Some not so much.  A Miller set us back quite a bit.  Woodson has us pointed up.

You want a dumpster fire -- DePaul or Georgetown for $1000 Alex.

Woodson has us pointed up is up for debate. We look poised to take a step back this year

Nah.  We'll be top half of Big and make the tourney for the third straight year.  Nothing is a straight line to the top.

This is the kind of logic that had us hold onto Crean and Archie too long. The momentum is already gone. If after the momentum is over you aren’t making small incremental progress then you are kind of done for

If you can predict the future, tell us what the lottery numbers will be this wrek. How is the momentum gone. We improved this year from last year and made  the tournament both years. We have no clue how we will play next year and our roster is far from set.

On that’s status of “easier to sell to” regarding recruitments  and programs. Who has a better program between Indiana and Houston? Houston was a perennial dumpster for 40 years up until recently.

FYI - NIL top 10 numbers just came out from March Madness and Indiana had 3 or 4 of the top 10. Impressive.

Momentum can stop in a hurry.  We have 2 commits for 2023 the highest is 111 on 247 (on3 rankings have them higher, Newton at 68).  We currently have 0 for 2024 and I think I read we don't lead for any of them.  Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program.

The current team lost a lot and needs shooting/scoring and could use more athleticism on the perimeter, so far all we've gotten is 2 bigs from the portal and missed a player that seemed to be a priority.  So yeah, a step back is very possible.

One hour later and I might be willing to say that Oregon is out on Knecht.  6'6" wing Devan Cambridge commits to Oregon.  10 ppg, 5 1/2 rebounds at Arizona State last year.  That's a shooting guard and wing in a matter of a few hours for them.  Likely got tired of the Knecht waiting game and moved on.

That said, I'm not convinced that Knecht is Tennessee bound just yet.....or if he is, I think you might see a talented player or two from Tennessee bolting.

So you are saying once you lose momentum then you can never regain it. Let's look at a HOF coach Jay Wrights first 11 years at Villanova. You will see a lot of ups and downs on these years.

19-13

15-16

18-17

24-8

28-5

22-11

22-13

30-8

25;8

21-12

13-19

20-14

I think players like to play for Sampson.  And that trumps everything else.

Again, momentum is not a straight line.  We all knew this upcoming year would be a "down" year (the alternative was to launch TJD, Race, et. al. on day 1 of Woodson).  If rankings mean anything, we got the 2nd ranked player in the portal.  Put the pieces in place and then go out an compete.  If X is back, we have a good core of X, Ware, Gallo, Malik.  We need some current guys to step up this summer and prove themselves.  And fill in some holes -- 1 or 2 good wings should do the trick.  Not final four but enough to compete next season.  Build from there.
