Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Butler - 12/19/20 Crossroads Classic @ 11:30 a.m. ET

Recommended Posts

Clearly, our recent success in football and women's basketball has gone to my head. I went to ESPN to look up some stats for this game, and at first I was confused why I didn't see it with the other games for tomorrow. Then, I remembered our men's program is allergic to the top 25, so I had to search under Big Ten games for Saturday. Lame.

Missed out on 33 straight AP polls. Haven't been ranked since the week of January 14-20, 2019. During that week, we lost 51-66 to Nebraska at home and 55-70 at Purdue.

Butler didn’t have fans outside of Fischers or Carmel until Bob Knight left IU.  Not wrong to remind them of that every now and again.

Sorry you won’t be able to watch in person this year.   I know the crossroads is one of your favorites to go to.

Thanks man.  In between high school games and IU we are all missing this year in person, the best I can say is I am just thankful they are playing some games.  Just a fun game day in person.

Butler has had some pretty good teams even before the Stevens era. They did get a little full of themselves there for a while, but their program is no joke. I remember the Tony Hinkle days and they were not a cupcake on anyone's schedule. They have beaten some pretty good IU teams. I get that some want to play bigger names. Maybe we should make sure we beat the"inferior" Butler's of the world first.

Absolutely.  I just don't know what is to be gained from the game at this point.  It does help the SOS but there are a lot of other teams that can do that.  Recruiting-wise, I don't think we gain anything from a win but can lose with a loss.

I'm hoping that the BTT will have fans in some fashion, but I'm not holding my breath.  I've hit it every year for about the last ten years (sans when it was in NYC or Washington DC) and had tickets for last year until it got cancelled.

I keep scorebook for the school I teach at and we haven't played a game yet as our football season ran long and now we've had an outbreak -- two players and a coach all testing positive.  Will be at least Jan 5th before we play our first game.  Already are shorthanded as it seems players aren't really wanting to play this year.

Won’t be able to watch the game live but with Butler down 1-2 players (one their best I believe), then IU should be able to win easily. No more need for a Phinisee last second shot, let’s just win by a lot.

I blame your post if we lose.
