Big Ten football schedule

In my opinion, which means absolutely nothing, unfortunately the Big Ten in general is just soft this year.  Both PSU and Michigan really pooped the bed for any talk of two Big Ten schools in the CFP.  I foresee two 'ACC' (ND and Clemson) teams in the CFP.  (Technically, the Irish aren't ACC but hey it's 2020.)  Had both PSU and Michigan played well this year we might be talking about IU being ranked in the top 4 because OSU might have a loss (still might happen actually) or two on their record.  But I do like what you're thinking here and the fact that we're even having this discussion about Indiana football is freaking awesome!  Food for thought, I suppose one could argue the best win was the overtime win over #8 PSU at the time.  And how lucky is OSU to have only played two road games this season?

I mean regardless IU has to take care of business before any of this to happen.  Bucket game this week.  Go Hoosiers!

No doubt, I believe we not only beat psu but stole their soul.  They're not as good as that #8 ranking but they're not as bad as they've shown the rest of the season.

Let's add some more fun to it..

O$U goes to Indy and absolutely blows the door off Northwestern to prove they're far and away the best team in the Big Ten.  Indiana hands Iowa a solid loss further proving IU is a really good team.  Will that matter in the end?

Also, it's really difficult to tell how good any team is with only a handful of teams playing OOC games.  Texas A&M has a "good" win against Florida but how good is Florida?  Florida's best win is against Georgia but how good is Georgia?  Georgia hasn't really played a ton of good teams but has two losses in the games against good competition.

I see your fun and raise you with this.

Bucket game gets concealed.  OSU comes down to Btown for a rematch this Saturday.

Oh, I've no doubt they'd contrive some excuse on why we'd have to go back and play a second game in Columbus.

Oh wow, this is about to get very interesting. IU DESERVES to be in the championship game now, no excuses other than the Big10 screwing us to make money off of OSU. If they make changes, I really hope local, national, and the university blast the Big10 to no end.

The Big10 officials put this into place, and they better follow it. I think the Big10 will further shows its incompetence with breaking their own rules they put forth. CrimsonCast guys said it best, if IU were Michigan or PSU, this wouldn’t even be a debate to help OSU.

Big ten will let Ohio state go out of conference and play Kansas or Vandy so they get a 6th win and look "impressive" doing it. Like beating michigan state is impressive and somehow they scored points. Not on the HOOSIERS

Big10 releases a statement about the Mich vs OSU cancellation, along with collaborating about the Big10 Championship.

The last line in that statement could be read to say "We're doing everything possible to find a reason to go back on our own rule and allow Ohio State football program to play in the Big Ten Football Championship Game."

I haven't said it enough this season

I also don’t see a good outcome if the Big10 puts OSU against us for the championship. For starters, it screws over NW. Second, there really is no positive for playing OSU again. Even if we beat them, I highly doubt it puts us in the CFP unless we pound them, but if we lose it does even more harm.

I will support whatever game IU plays because I will back them 100%, but I just don’t see a good outcome even if we win. Losing to OSU could take us out of a New Year 6 bowl, even if we barely lose again.

I don't think they'd keep Northwestern from the championship game but will do everything to change the rules to get O$U in.

Would not be for the B1G championship. Would be the last B1G regular season week. NW would get the winner.

I think the suggestion has been that if the PUs can't play this weekend, we play OSU again with the winner playing NW in the B1G title game. I'm not sure anybody has suggested that we should just play Brutus for the league championship.

An OSU vs IU game only can help IU. If OSU plays us and loses, they lose the B1G title and any chance at the CFP (they'd be 5-1...not gonna work).

On the other hand, if we won we'd end up 8-1 (assuming we took care of business against NW/Iowa) with consecutive wins over #18 Wisky on the road, #3 OSU, and ranked NW/Iowa.

We would make us a CFP probable. That would be one of the extraordinary sports stories of this crazy year. Maybe THE most notable, most extraordinary sports story of this crazy year  in any sport period.

Ohio State already defeated Indiana. And, frankly, OSU would beat IU by a lot more if they played them now without our 1st string quarterback.

Oh yeah? Sez you.

Sure didn't feel like that when OSU walked off the field with the cold sweats when we played them last month.

I’m not seeing this the same way most seem to be, which probably means I’m wrong. The only downside for the Conference in following their rules is if they believe not playing in the Championship game would keep a 5-0 OSU out of the playoff. I think there is a zero chance of that. They’d be putting, most likely, 3 1-loss teams ahead of them. I would bet my house that doesn’t happen. As I see it, they’re already in and finding them another game would just give them 2 more chances to lose. So the Conference can follow their rules and put IU in the Championship, which would allow them to look principled while actually protecting OSU.

So what am I missing here?

Indiana was down 35-7 at one point and I still feel like we blew that game. Tuttle is no slouch and could keep IU competitive in a rematch, especially if played in Bloomington.

We should’ve just canceled if the Big Ten was going to F us like this. We’d be 6-0 and OSU still wouldn’t be eligible. But since we actually played we’re going to get screwed over.

I would be happy to be wrong. But imo Ohio State is a much better team that was caught off-guard.  They wouldn't be surprised twice if we played them again. We are better off playing an inferior team (like Purdue), finishing the regular season with just one loss, and going to a top bowl game than risking a loss by playing OSU a second time.
