Per his AAU team, Gibbs-Lawhorn has received an official offer from IU representing Archie's first offer to a '23.   Attends McCutcheon HS in Lafayette (Rob Phinisee's school).  As a '23, there's not a lot of info out there and he's referred to as both a PG and a SG depending upon what you read.

Worth a read.

It had been 10 months. That’s what the doctor said. Based on the size of the break, the injury most likely had been around for a while. For the last 10 months, there’s a good chance that Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn played on a fractured right foot.

That means the 21 points per game Gibbs-Lawhorn averaged last season as a freshman at McCutcheon High School was on a broken foot. That means the 31 points he dropped in a game with Indiana Elite this summer was on a broken foot.

Out for the entire '20-'21 season.

Lafayette Journal & Courier -

Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn had a broken foot he hoped would heal in time for high school basketball season.

That wasn't the case.  The McCutcheon sophomore will miss the 2020-21 season after surgery.  Gibbs-Lawhorn had surgery Sept. 29 and will miss four-to-six months, his father Ben Gibbs said.

The 6-foot guard currently has offers from Purdue and Indiana.

Gibbs-Lawhorn is a four-star recruit listed as the No. 9 player nationally by recruiting website 247 Sports.  He was featured in a Gatorade commercial in March that was scheduled to run through the NCAA basketball tournaments.

Gibbs-Lawhorn made an instant impact one year ago as a freshman, averaging 21 points, 3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 46.3 percent from 3 and 48.5 percent overall. He scored 30 or more points three times, including a high of 35 in a sectional loss to Marion.

Well, if he follows the Jalen Washington path to upward mobility he should be a top 5 kid by this time next year.

Reportedly he's healing more rapidly than expected and may be able to make a return to the court in January.

Fun fact about him.  He appears in one of the new Gatorade commercials that has been out for a little bit.

Leaving McCutcheon for prep school Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy in Utah,

From the Lafayette Journal & Courier -

McCutcheon was riding a wave of good fortune in its backcourt.

After four years of Robert Phinisee, now a point guard for the Indiana Hoosiers, there was a one-year gap before Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn.

The dynamic scorer put on one show after another last year as a freshman with his long-range shooting and an equally impressive mid-range game along with the ability to get to the basket and soar over defenders.

It lasted one season.

Gibbs-Lawhorn will leave McCutcheon for prep school Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy in Utah, he announced Tuesday.

Following a freshman season where Gibbs-Lawhorn averaged 21 points per game, he received college offers from Indiana and Purdue with interest from Michigan State, Xavier, Cincinnati and Butler, according to recruiting service Rivals.com.

Gibbs-Lawhorn, who starred in a Gatorade commercial that began airing early in March, suffered a foot injury that was going to cost him the 2020-21 high school season.

He has not been cleared to play, but his rehab is ahead of schedule, Gibbs-Lawhorn's father Ben Gibbs said. The differing basketball schedule at Real Salt Lake Academy will allow Gibbs-Lawhorn to come back before its season ends.

Real Salt Lake Academy is a first-year program coached by David Evans, previously coach at Wasatch Academy in Utah.

Gibbs-Lawhorn plays for the Indiana Elite AAU program.

He will remain at Real Salt Lake Academy for the duration of his high school career, according to his father.

Nice article. If I had ever referred to a coach by his 1st name my Dad would have looked at me like had grown another head. Those little cultural evolutions.

Although he had received an IU offer from Archie, nothing at all suggests Woody and staff are interested in him.  So FWIW.....

It’s possible there are other reasons the staff backed off but size/length are a clear emphasis. Clearly this is a talented player but it wouldn’t surprise me if Woody’s staffs mostly avoid smaller guards based on everything we’ve seen

Comment on Gibbs-Lawhorn following last weekend's DT Academy event in Norcross, GA.

The Indiana-native is prepping in Utah and immediately popped out during drills, he’s got a great-looking jump shot that soars and cuts the net, in 3 on 3 drill work he was unstoppable and took much of that into gameplay Sunday where he was able to take anyone there off the bounce (and there were some serious defenders in the gym) and was tremendous out in the open floor, can play it smooth or get off the deck in a hurry around the basket, holds Indiana and Purdue offers from his home state and that list is going to expand rapidly.
