Played for Garner Road on the Adidas AAU circuit. 247 Rivals From PhenomHoopReport: Kadin Shedrick Has Worked Himself into 4-Star Status by Jamie Shaw | Aug 7, 2018 | Featured, News | 0 comments This week, 6’10” rising senior Kadin Shedrick will sit down with his family and his mentors and go over the 25-plus offers and narrow things down to a manageable list they can choose from. Shedrick is a high academic kid who works hard, so this type of rapid explosion did not come as a surprise, but it did come quickly. Shedrick as he picked up over 15 offers this July alone. This explosion spring boarded him from a high major watch list to a Top 100 type of player. Taking a look at the offer sheet, mostly Power 5 schools came in July, however a couple of Ivy’s threw their hat in the ring. You see on top of being a Top 100 type of basketball player, Shedrick is also an extremely high academic student. a 6’8″ Kadin Shedrick first showed up at our 2016 Spring Phenom 150 Camp Our first time watching Shedrick was at our NC Phenom 150 Spring Exposure Camp, it was in March just after Shedrick’s freshman year in 2016. He was incredibly intriguing, and immediately caught our eye due to his physical measurables and skill set, we wrote, “Finishing up with a big man that hones a really unique skill set and projects as a high-upside player, 6’8” Kadin Shedrick. He’s really long and thin yet showed off the ability to slither through defenses; has flashes of a three-level scorer and would really dominate opponents if he became reliable from all distances. Shedrick is a solid rebounder on both ends and runs the floor in transition well for a big man. Defensively, he disrupts shots constantly when anchoring the paint but struggles at times guarding the post straight up. Next in his development process is simply continuing to add weight to his frame and getting stronger; when he can go to work on the low block, he will be a really intriguing prospect. Coach Perry on Shedrick: “Kadin is a long, high-energy kid that rebounds the ball really well. He showed the ability to shoot the three-pointer and from midrange. Needs to add strength and quickness; has to work in the post a little more but has a high upside.” Shedrick is a young prospect that will only continue to become bigger and more polished as times goes on; he should carry his play into his sophomore season at Holly Springs.” Click Here to Watch Shedrick’s Ball is Life Mix from his 2016 Phenom 150 Spring Exposure Camp October of 2017 Shedrick picked up his first offer, Nebraska. Quite the offer out the gate, a Power 5 program from half way across the country. However, it was not surprising as Shedrick showed all kinds of tools to go with his length and size. It also should not go without mentioning that Shedrick works out with 2-time reigning NBA Champion David West every summer. West’s brother Dwayne runs the Garner Road program and they have their kids in the gym year around, getting better an improving. West is very hands on with the program as he actually is actually on the sideline coaching the 17u team during his offseason. So in a short recap up to this point, Shedrick was blessed with incredible natural abilities, with off the charts measurables and a natural basketball skill set. That skill set is honed each summer by an NBA Champion and former All-Star each summer, as he spends countless hours in the gym. Fast forward to January of 2017, this was the month where Shedrick broke Holly Springs High Schools’ single season blocked shot recording his 50th blocked shot in only his 15th game played of the season. Shedrick went on to block 69 shots, in only 25 games played. That year Holly Springs was 3-22 on the season as Shedrick averaged 7.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He also shot 47% from the field and 71% from the free throw line. He did all of this as a 15 year old, 6’8” sophomore. After seeing him break the school’s blocked shot record we wrote, “You see, Kadin is a 15-year-old sophomore and won’t turn 16 until July. He’s young for his grade and is only beginning to scratch the surface on his long range potential. In addition, Kadin sports a 19-size shoe and is expected to grow into those huge feet, not to mention his enormous 7’0 wingspan. This season for Holly Springs High School, his statistics are fairly modest. He is averaging 5.5 PPG, 7.1 RPG and 3.3 BPG. He has enjoyed a season high 14 points, 17 rebounds, and seven blocked shots in one game. For us at the Phenom Hoop Report, we have watched and evaluated Kadin on numerous occasions. At our open gym tour back in September of 2016, we stated the following. “ Upside and potential! Kadin is a baby face youngster that looks to have further growth. He has a very soft shooting touch and runs the floor extremely well. Kadin also has a high basketball IQ and was the “eye catcher” of the day for future prospects.” Shedrick’s star continued to rise, he continued to get stronger and he continued to become more fluid with his body and frame. Even though Shedrick missed 6 games during his junior year, with a small injury, he really had a coming out party. His team jumped from 3 to 13 wins and Shedrick approaches averaging a double-double on the year. He averaged 16.2 points and 9.8 rebounds while shooting 59 percent from the field and chipping in 2.3 blocks per game. Another eye-popping stat Shedrick also added in was shooting 43% from 3, although this was in a smaller sample size. All of this led up to our last viewing of Shedrick, at Phenom’s Champion Showcase which took place July 7-8 in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was clear to see that Shedrick’s body of work had taken leaps forward. Better than he even was in February, Shedrick’s trajectory was clearly rising rapidly. We mentioned numerous times of him being a sure fire high major prospect and even bring a Top 100 type prospect, which makes this July blow up all the more deserved. Now pushing 6’10” Shedrick is a svelte looking big with 25+ offers After he took Phenom’s Champion Showcase by storm Phenom Hoops’ National Analyst Miles Masercola wrote, “Shedrick has really established himself as a legit high major level prospect over the last six months and now that we’ve seen him a couple times this summer he 100% fits the mold as a Top 100 prospect. His body has improved significantly to go with an incredible motor on the offensive end. You can tell within a few minutes of watching him that he’s incredibly comfortable within his frame. Shedrick possesses the ability to turn over both shoulders and has started to develop a consistent mid-range game to go with that 6’10 frame. Without a doubt a can’t miss prospect.” Now sitting with an offer sheet that includes schools from the ACC, Big 10, Big East, Pac-12, AAC, Ivy League and more it is no surprise. Shedrick’s best basketball is clearly ahead of him and he is the type, looking at his work ethic and recent trajectory or improvement he could finish college with talks of a professional career ahead of him. Of course, that is a long way off, but as each day passes it is something that is looking more and more plausible. Alford Bailey, thebigweave, mamasa and 9 others 12 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Hmm. With 3 maybe 4 schollies available you start wondering if our staff is getting impatient with some primary targets. Not dismissing this kid at all, I don't know anything about him but the timing is interesting. Sounds like we are looking at 4 to me. Anthony Harris and Bouknight seem unlikely at this point. TJD and Brooks are hopefuls and probably even leading. I love and hate recruiting. But mostly love it lately. Time for me to research a new player. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Watched a recent 30 second clip on YouTube. Haha. Looks fluid for his length. 1 year ago footage shows him shooting lots of 3's. Hard not to think Clifton Moore with the 2 clips I watched. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners tortex28 1 Quote

I was laughing at myself for judging him off 90 seconds of video. He actually looked good. I'm confident he jumps up as well. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Jam Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Not a knock on this kid at all,but it seems like we have seen this movie before. Start with offers to five stars and then an increasing broader number of offers to fours and rising three star players. Hope we can get a commitment soon. Wish we could return to the days when players leaped at an offer. tortex28, ElectricBoogaloo, MikeRoberts and 1 other 4 Quote

Seems like TJD is likely or very likely and Brooks may be slightly less likely but a strong possibility. But yeah, it has that sort of feeling to it. Carton seemed like our lead guard target by a longshot. not sure who we really love as a guard that's left. Im not convinced we love Franklin. We probably like Tre Mann but he is likely going to UNC. Ramsey is a stud, but we don't seem to really have a chance. Anthony Harris seemed like a good option but we are virtually shutout there. Bouknight is similar and he is more of an up and comer than a bona fide star. Recruiting isn't easy. I think Brooks and TJD (or Stewart, Hurt, Watford) save any class though no matter who comes with them. Quote

Wish we could return to the days when players leaped at an offer. There havent been very many recruits leaping at an offer with any school. There haven't been too many commitments in the top 100. It is starting to pick up now that all the evaluation periods are over. That's just the way it is with this class. Last year was different. Next year could be different. I'm not worried until our top choices actually pick another school. However, I do find comfort that Archie's back up plans are 4 stars unlike his predecessor.
