Blackhawk Christian is the 2A champ with a  52-45 win over Linton-Stockton.  Really happy for Matt Roth.  Replacing a successful coach who was forced to resign due to serious health issues would be a difficult position to step into.

Kellen Pickett 19p; 9r; 4a.  Joey Hart finished with 23p after having 18p at the half.  Pickett drew the defensive assignment on Hart in the 2nd half.

Seconded. Roth seems like a great guy. Has handled the situation with a lot of class.  BC has created a bit of a basketball factory. It’s a small school. Will be interesting to see how long they can keep it rolling.  At minimum, for Picketts next 2 seasons but wouldn’t be surprised for it to be a regular thing.

3A championship in OT:   NorthWood 66 Guerin Catholic 63

Note the capital N and the capital W.  This was an attempt to appease the fan bases of the 2 schools that consolidated in the late 1960's  --  Nappanee and Wakarusa.  I'm a graduate of Wakarusa HS so tonight I'm celebrating a state championship.

Were you on that 1933 Wakarusa team that went to state?

Crazy Rutgers has a strong chance of landing 2 of them.

We have a dream chance of landing 3 of them. McNeely, Bidunga, Travis Perry. Although Perry seems like a long shot if Kentucky pushes.

I’ve also know we’ve kicked the tires on VJ Edgecomb but not sure we have any track towards him. Boogie Fland with an outsider chance too.

Indpls. Pike High School has hired former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague to be their next Boys’ Basketball Head Coach. The Indianapolis native is a Pike HS graduate and has strong connections in the area.

I hope that works out for Pike. As a long time follower of Indianapolis/Marion County basketball, I always root for those teams. Warren Central hired Gregg Graham a while back with mixed results. Hopefully, this works out better.

High school basketball is moving away from 1-and-1 free throws... going from no shots to 2 shots after the 5th foul of the quarter.

Part of me would like to see the college game move away from the 1-and-1, as well... would speed up the end of games tremendously...
