Home and back in the warmth. Since it looks like most people watched I won't explain how each goal happened like I usually do. However, I do have a few thoughts: 

1. How in the world did this OSU team beat MSU? I have watched both teams a bit and soccer is a bit fluky but MSU is hands down better and its not close. This OSU team is not particular bad at any aspect of the game but not particularly good either.

2. Good to see IU return to early season form and have both an offensive and defensive onslaught.

3. Interesting game with Wiscy Sunday who unlike OSU actually does something really well in that they have an elite offense (but a pretty mediocre Defense). Wiscy is one of only four teams to score on us this year and the only one to score in the run of play since Michigan in Mid September.

4. Funny story from early in the game: One of the few OSU fan asked her friend how it was so many IU fans relative to their fans and the friend correctly observed that plenty of IU fans live in the area so it makes sense. Duh

5. I kept an eye on Rennicks a lot who played a good amount. He is clearly not in tip top playing condition but at his best he possesses many of the same elite skills Dorsey does. Hopefully he is back fully healthy next year and we should have a stud similar to Dorsey either along side him or in his spot if Dorsey goes pro.

6. After the ridiculously good performance by the PSU goalie last Sunday it was sort of sweet justice that a massive goalie screw up by OSU early in the second half put the game away.

7. So far in person I have seen scores of 5-0 vs Rugters, 4-0 vs OSU today and 3--0 vs USF early in the season. These are the types of scores and dominating performances I saw as a kid with Jerry at the helm. I continue to say this is the best team IU has fielded since at least 2004 and I hope its rewarded with a well deserved national title.

It would be nice to have two wins against Wisconsin in a sport, since we never do it in basketball.

Im in rain or shine tomorrow and Soccer can obviously be played through the forecast of light rain but watch for a potential 10 or 11am start instead of noon to get the game in before the field takes on as much water. Also could move game inside like woman did last weekend but then there would be no tv and maybe closed to public. Most likely scenario to me is a 10 or 11am start and played in the rain but keep an eye on this.

I was thinking the same thing about 2014. Wonder if Maryland had some sort of violation that awarded it to us retroactively but that's very doubtful in Soccer. Seems more likely a mistake by the guy running the account. Interestingly the game notes for Sunday's preview on iuhoosiers.com also say we won it in 2014. Somebody at IU has some wrong information.

Update: IU just put out a new tweet with a correction removing 2014. Also fixed the website shortly after. Somebody was not paying attention but everything corrected now.

No change to time so far.

Due to the presumed rain during the match don't expect me to post anything during it as I don't want to get my cell phone wet. Will post a recap after when I get home. 

Something to note is this is Wisconsin's last chance to do something big as they are going to be undertaking a massive rebuild after this year and they are not us or Maryland who just reloads every year. As I said they have an average at best D and their weapon is their scoring and attack and the four guys who score all their goals are seniors (Mueller, Catalano, Segbers and Barlow) as well as their goalie.

Important note: The selection show for the NCAA Tournament is tomorrow at 1 pm on a live stream at ncaa.com. We are pretty much guaranteed a top 8 seed and 2 home games regardless of today's result. We may get a top 4 seed and all 3 games at home before college cup (which is in Philly) no matter what given our body of work but would think a win today wraps that up if we have not already. Also could get the no. 1 overall seed with a win and a Wake loss. Most likely scenario is the 2 seed with a win (that's where NCAA had us in their mock selection a couple weeks ago behind Wake and not much has changed since with either team) and a 4 or 5 seed with a loss or tie. There is no difference between a 1, 2, 3 or 4 seed but a falling to a 5 could cost you a home game in elite 8 depending on other results.
