Gruden grew up in South Bend, Ind., but he has IU ties from his childhood. His father, Jim, was on Lee Corso’s staff at IU back in the 1970s. During that time, Gruden was a ball boy for Bob Knight. http://saturdaytradition.com/indiana-football/gruden-iu-spring-game-2017/ hsrtxp 1 Quote

KB0 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I'll probably try to catch some of the replay at 9pm. Really can't learn much from a spring game, but excited for some IUFB in my life. Quote

Dalton26 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Just finished the first quarter. Simmie is simmie. Ian Thomas looks good. Lagow looks the same and Ramsey outplayed him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Hoosierfan2017, thebigweave, ccgeneral and 4 others 7 Quote

Dalton26 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Ramsey outplayed Lagow imo. Ideally I'd like Ramsey to sit another year if we had a good B1G level starter but we don't so I hope he gets the nod this year. Glad Fant is ok, that looked horrible and my biggest concern was I hope he didn't break his neck. Ball is an absolute freak, his run on offense was impressive. Lebowski Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Ramsey looked good. His team had the better running game, which might have played a factor. Lagow had receivers drop a lot of his passes. He had some placement problems on a few of his passes but he also had some really good placement for only the receiver to catch it. And a lot of them were dropped. I hope Simmie stays healthy. He'll be a big part of any success on the offensive side of the ball. Did anybody see Natee? I didn't see him out there. Is he injured? For a Spring game, they looked good. A lot to work out. I hope that's the case for Mike McGinnis. He missed some tackles and looked like he had some pursuit angle problems. I could be wrong though. Also, the running game. They need to work out that as well. Ramsey might be a good addition to have him in for dual threat opportunities. But overall I was impressed from top to bottom. ALASKA HOOSIER and ccgeneral 2 Quote
Popular Post lucel15 Posted April 14, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted April 14, 2017 My takes from last night 1.Ramsey played very well for his age. Very quick. Zander like movement. 2. Lagow had no help from receivers besides simmie. RBs and some WRs dropped like 7+ passes that were placed perfectly. I think we will be fine and I think he will be fine. (Wish we did first team O vs first team D just to see for a quarter or something. 3. Hard to gauge either line. Especially when starters are split up and what not. I liked the draft format but like above I wish we could have seen 1v1s. 4. Juan Harris had a few jitters (jumping offsides twice I believe). But he is a huge dude. However, he had some great pushes off the ball. He extends and gets separation from OL. 5. Riggins played really well against simmie. Having him and Fant will be great again. Our DBs are loaded we have a ton of talent and size back there. Along with LBs solid speed and size. 6. Ball is a beast still. He looked faster, bigger, and made good reads (glad he didn't take anyone's head off). 7. Hayden Whitehead. Welcome to Bloomington mate. What a leg. What a leg. He had some very very good punts last night. Granted he didn't have anyone running at him. But hangtime and distance Wowza. Sorry Gedion I love that you can run a 4.4 40 as a punter but Hayden is legit. Thank you Australia. 8. WR corps is loaded with size speed. A lot of young kids to keep an eye on. TE to unit seems deep as well. 9. RBs out last night Gest, Natee, Majette were on sidelines for their teams. I didn't see Patrick or Williams. Arod looks to have picked up some speed. 10. I think we will get pressure and sacks on opposing QBs. Granted both lines were a hodgepodge of first and second teamers....but there were a lot of hurries and sacks called last night. Overall im excited to see what this team can do against OSU for our first game. The crowd was engaged and I was surprised with the amount of fans that came out and students. Especially for a Thursday night 7:00 kick off we had more than last years spring game for sure. It's gonna suck not having our nice video board. Can't yell at the zebras when they miss a call. Having the stadium enclosed will be cool tho!! Gonna be world class. Cheers red men and sorry for my long post. Luce is out LIHoosier, ccgeneral, CR3AMnCR1MS0N and 8 others 11 Quote
Dalton26 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 ^ just to hit on two of Lucels points. Our WR's did drop a lot of passes but the potential is definitely there like he said. I think having Simmie back will help take the pressure off the rest of our WR's. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha 1 Quote
