Not to beat a dead horse here...but is there a consensus to the question of "did IU turn down Steve or did Steve turn down IU?"

I received some info yesterday that led me to believe Alford turned us down .... but I haven't read through all the pages on this thread since the Archie hire to see if that was discussed ...

If we turned us down, then good.

By the press conference, it seemed that Steve was Glass's top guy.

I believe that Green will take over his starting spot this year.  Flashed way too much to not surpass him on the depth chart over summer.

Personally, I think Newkirk would be most valuable to the team coming off the bench in a reserve role.  

I agree. He was just asked to do too much. He's not a starting point guard talent imo but I think he would do well as a backup playing 18-20 minutes a night. He was getting better late in the season and I think he'll be a valuable piece for us next year.

I've seen good sources on both sides.

Overall, seems alumni wanted him and BOT didn't. Not sure where Glass stood.

I personally think Glass was thinking Alford at the press conference. Hence the double check plus stuff and Dakich reaction. I think the BOT and fan reaction put that plan on hold.

I know a guy who works with a former teammate of Alford who claimed to be in contact with #12 in the past week and "Glass had already handed him the offer" .... if true, then I'm a firm believer in prayer because God surely answered mine!

Yes he does and since IU has a coach now, IU will compete for the B1G championship next season

He left because they were only playing him 18-20 a game? I wasn't around much when he transferred here so I didn't pick up the story about why he left Pitt.

Don't know if I'm the guru; I just went last 6 years with Crean and included games within 5 pts too.

Also, our +/- in Kenpom's luck rating was negative for 5 of those 6 years with 2016 being exactly 0. This year IU was at -.09, 341st overall. That means based on our AdjO/AdjD rankings, we should have been 21-13 instead of 18-16.
