Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers

IMO, JBJ isn't in the 70.  You would that players showing up in the 70 are appearing in a mock draft or two.....I haven't been seeing JBJ in any of them.  Remember last year Yogi didn't get invited (Troy Williams did).  I think after the top 50 or so, teams are more interested in seeing what players who have more questions about their capabilities get invited.  I think teams already know what Blackmon can do....shoot, rebound decently for his size, but really lacking defensively.  Ferrell's abilities were definitely more known than Williams last year which IMO is why Troy got the invite and not Yogi.

Yeah you are probably right. I dont don't even know that bryant is top 70 but I have never been high on him.

If they do interviews and stuff like that there he'll get an invite.

Yeah that's what I'm not sure about. I didn't know if they only put them through workouts or if they meet with the players, interview them, etc. as well.

You've never been high on Bryant? Did you watch him last year?

He has some nice dunks and can shoot the three. I dont don't see much else. His foot work is terrible his defense below average. You think he is going to be able to defend out of the wing in the nba? Guys like troy Williams would blow right by him. He should be a four year college player period but it's up to him.

0% chance Bryant stays
40% chance Blackmon stays
Those are my completely arbitrary numbers. If Blackmon stays I see Cujo leaving. There won't be time for him next year and we're recruiting some top guards in 2018. The rumors of TB missing classes, him not being at the Hoosier Showcase and Archie not talking about him make me think he has already made his decision. It seems like Blackmon is intrigued by the thought of playing for Archie. I think he wants to play pro ball next year, but I also think he's interested in coming back because of the way Archie would use him.

You would think that JBJ would've extended his shooting range distances during his pre draft workout practices in the above posted video. That is where he would primarily be utilized. All of his deep shooting was from the collegiate line. Seems that he would be sjooting from NBA range.

Any NBA exec that is concerned about Bryant guarding guys like Troy Williams should go ahead and fire their coach right now.

Weren't people trying to convince themselves that Zeller and Oladipo wouldn't leave? They were in much different situations. But in such a short time, the thought process of leaving has greatly changed.

Not many people at all on HSN that the quite a few here were on. They were predicted lottery picks for a while that season in a weak draft before a stronger draft.

You'll have to point to where I said that.  But you are asking how he was going to guard players that he isn't going to be asked to guard in the NBA.  My point was that an NBA coach that is putting Thomas Bryant to guard a quick, athletic small forward shouldn't have a job.  Seems silly.

Bryant played like he was a wing last year and dropped weight to be more of a perimeter player. He's gonna have to add a bunch of mass to play in the post in the NBA. He'll never be quick or athletic enough to play on the wing.

I'm still in shock Miles Bridges returned to MSU. Kid is the next Blake Griffin.

He's no where near as good as Griffin and much smaller. Griffin was at 20+ppg/8rpg right out of the gate. I like Bridges but I'd be surprised if he's ever an All-Star. More like Aaron Gordon with a better jumpshot.

Freshman years

Miles 16.9/8.3
Blake 14.7/9.1

Blake had a HUGE sophomore jump. 22.7/14.4. Not thinking Miles has that big of a jump but they are very similar in skillset and had very similar freshman starts.

I meant Blake had 20+/8 as a rookie in the NBA. I don't see Bridges even getting close to the production BG has had in the NBA.

For me I look at a guy like Noah Vonleh for a comparison. They're both probably stretch 4's. Vonleh has the tools to be a perfect one. He's 6'9, with a 7'4 wingspan. He can shoot the ball pretty well, and he's very athletic, much more athletic than Bryant.  He was much better coming out of college than Bryant is right now into and he has struggled so far in his career. I just don't see TB having a career in the NBA, but I could be wrong.
