  1. It feel like we experienced some of that with Crean. Hopefully the defense will keep us in games when the shots aren't falling--unlike the Crean years.

  2. It still takes more than 1 year to be great when you have to replace literally the entire roster. It's not just a math problem.

  4. I think the difference is I don’t have expectations. Every year I have curiosity and anticipation.

  6. Surprise wins and butt ugly losses depending on whether three point shots are falling. A style that will take this fan base some getting used to.

  8. This is what I’m seeing. It’s not like we stopped recruiting, it’s more that we missed. NIL apparently not high enough, etc. Moren talked openly about needing to get more athletic and bigger. Looking forward to that developing

  11. So if next year isn't "top level" then it's a failure? Nothing in between? Are you saying that if IU isn't a very legit NC contender in year 1 we should probably move on because it won't be easy to rebound from that? You've got to be kidding or should maybe define "top level" better.

The Lexi Bargesser thing is puzzling to me but I understand the rest of them. She was basically a starter and would have played a lot this season.

  13. Such an Interesting deal. The way DDV built this year’s roster certainly looked, at least to me, like he was really emphasizing perimeter-oriented skill guys to the exclusion of traditional bigs. The he goes out and offers this kid and Taylor and Diane and shows interest in Hines and those kids are about as traditional as big kids get.

  15. The Newman School on Marlborough Street?!!? Holy crap... they play basketball? That's a very small (35 students per grade) very fancy, very private school between Exeter and Fairfield in Back Bay. A place where mayors and law firm senior partners send their kiddies. See the building with the red door? That's all of it:

    IUFB Offseason Updates

I really think IU is trying to give him what he wants: - Cig and staff got big raises -- well deserved. But after that first round of huge raises, Haines got two more raises after PSU started sniffing around. Owings got another raise when USC tried to get him. We retained the whole staff minus Tino who got a legit promotion to play call that he had to take. Tino's replacement is absolutely top notch -- we didn't go cheap there either. - We retained basically all our key players. I am positive every school and their mothers were tampering with them, and many of those schools have a lot of money. - Portal class ranked around #20. Got Fernando, potential mega stud. - Now we're signing higher grade high school kids We can always be better, but I'm just outlining some positives. Anyways, I think about the Illinois game a few times every week. Huge game. Big Noon Kickoff likely in town, outside shot for GameDay. Massive chance to set the tone and avoid trying to bounce back with two hard road games @Iowa and @Oregon. It's fun having such big games to play, but nerve-racking.

  18. Just my opinion, but what you call roster deficiencies can also be tied directly to who was coaching -- our coaching staff. Take our roster last year and have it coached by a good (or even decent) coach running a modern offense, with actions and schemes for outside shooting, etc., and I am 100% confident we would've been well in the tourney and had a much better record, Just saying roster deficiencies doesn't account for that, and overstates the perceived deficiencies.' Now how well DeVries and the new (better all around) staff can do with this roster obviously remains to be seen, but, without even seeing a practice let alone a game, I'm also 100% sure we'll see better and much more diverse offensive sets. We've got guys with demonstrated shooting etc. I'm personally optimistic we'll make the tourney and generally enjoy watching the team play -- and it's been a long time since I've enjoyed watching IU ball, under Woodson and CAM. I have no expectation of competing for the conference in year 1 and don't think there should be one. I want to enjoy year 1, and then expect bigger things in year 2.

  19. In the new ACC scheduling model, each team has one league opponent it won't play. That just strikes me as absurd. Then again, so is having a conference with teams in Boston and Palo Alto, California (sorta like a conference with teams in Piscataway, New Jersey, and in Seattle -- LOL). https://apnews.com/article/acc-schedule-unc-nc-state-duke-miami-be3a911141a60b0ad78b4d1436bec7b6
