Just had a long sit down with a buddy getting a full update. As of now the plan is to have brad sign the contract on March 2nd. He wants to essentially finish his season as a GM with the Celtics which mainly ends in March 1st as a GM. The verbal agreement still stands but he does not want any announcement until after that point. So the signing Monday won't occur but this is all but locked down. Contract is 6 years 67 million and brad has an option to extend to 10 years after year 3. Includes promises towards IU funded NIL and assistant pools but I don't know the value behinds those numbers. Just be patient. Hate me because of Goodman's tweet but there is a reason for all this optimism and it's that Brad still is a verbal agreement with IU and both IU and Stevens camp agree to all contract terms.

They are closer than most recognize 4. 10 days ago talk began to heat up as we announced CMW’s imminent departure 5. Insiders claim SD has his man lined up 6. Throughout the week more and more chatter builds to the point that even skeptics, naysayers, and casual fans start to take note 7. More insiders arrive with corroborating information that continues to confirm that there is smoke coming from BS direction 8. the consensus is no announcement will be made before early to mid-March; the end of our season. 9. A few poster hint that it could be post All Star break at the earliest 10. things reach a fever pitch yesterday. 11. Negotiations go back and forth with IU agreeing to meet BS stipulations 12. Every insider chimes in, indicating we have our man. BS to IU is imminent 13. Our insiders run in different circles and hear from different sources— some from the Athletic Dept, some from boosters, some from board members 14. BUT early afternoon BS is no longer a candidate??? If BS wasn’t interested, why meet? If BS wasn’t interested why negotiate? If BS had two weeks why yesterday? If BS was a ‘no’ couldn’t he have been more definitive in his denial? I said yesterday that if BS signed, they have to announce quickly to protect the narrative. The only alternative is KAYFABE— to make things appear different than they actually are. WHY? We have a coach. It could be a humiliating distraction for him and the team. ALSO, BS and the All Star break is happening now. Would he want to make the weekend about him? Not likely. in my view the evidence is clear. Until we hire someone else; or BS says ‘I will not coach at IU last year,’ I will choose to BELIEVE he’s still in play.

My list if Brad isn’t available like Goodman says is Dusty, Dusty, he should already be the coach. I argued that with NGW till I was blue in the face. He wanted Woodson with a bankroll by donors. I ended up being right because anyone with any basketball knowledge knew Woodson couldn’t coach and Dusty can. If he says no I would do McCollum, then TJ. If we get that desperate then Beard or Wade. Flip a coin.

It’s only exhausting because you let it get to you. Why do you care what random people post on a free message board. Who cares what “insiders” say. You don’t believe it so it should not effect you when they post something.

My opinion on your question is because I don't think any other reporters think it's necessary. Outside of diehard IU fans, nobody else really thinks Stevens to IU is a serious thing.

Ole Miss THOROUGHLY vetted the man. Got him on the cheap for a year, signed him to an extension and he negotiated a minimal buyout. If IU wants him, he'll be vetted again. That should be enough.

Breaking Bad is Stevens favorite tv show. An IU grad produced it. Dolson had him set up the set and met Brad there to say let’s team up to win a championship.

I agree everyone deserves a 2nd chance but it’s hard for me to give him one at a school I love. Having a mother, wife, and daughter it would be very hard for me to support the hire, wins or not. No place for domestic violence (and I’m not saying you condone that in any way). That’s just my opinion and it really only matters to me I guess. Very, very good coach, just the wrong kind of crime for myself to be able to forgive.
