If your a high school kid who are you going to take more serious the guy that walks in with 2 championship rings as a coach or the guy that says I won a title here 30 years ago as a player never won anything as a coach though.

Coaches view it as an elite job. What some writer says or thinks has no bearing on anything. IU is absolutely a top 10 job in the country, and with well over 300 D1 basketball teams, top 3% pretty much makes it elite, There's nothing Indiana needs that it doesn't have; and the recruiting base within 200 miles of campus is among the best in the country. Huge home court advantage, all scholarships endowed, unlimited budget, rabid fan base, terrific facilities, one of the best campuses in the country, support of administration, and an incredible history. Recent winning does not make an elite position. The position itself does; and there is no question Indiana is an elite job. Indiana has not been an elite team consistently for the last 20+ years, but that means nothing relative to the job. Writers are writers.

Davis arrived on campus in late August last year after tending to summer academic obligations in his hometown of Aurora, Colorado. Missing summer workouts put him behind from a strength and conditioning standpoint, but he was gradually able to earn more time on the court - with all four starts coming in Big Ten play - as his conditioning improve. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game this season, playing in all 34 of the Hoosiers' games while starting four of them. How wierd is it that some of our fans entire rational for not wanting Donovan is that he is an East Coast guy? Like that is actually going to affect him recruiting to IU. He won two national titles when they were growing up, is known as a great coach, is currently coaching Westbrook who took the NBA by storm this year, but because he isn't from the Midwest they think he can't/won't recruit well here. Just kind of blows my mind

Had a "source" from a friend who helps with Park Tudor(Yogis HS and who beat us in semi state) that Billy D is pretty close to a done deal. Said that is the main name coaches in the area have discussed with Glass and his coach has talked to Glass as well. Now Glass did say this would happen and dont automatically think hes our coach but with all this smoke it is too good not to share. I have been waiting on this text for 2 days. I have been blowing him up with dms on twitter lol. Billy D has been known to pull out even after being officially named in the past but I am very confident in my source and your guys sources as well as others that too much is being said not to be true. What else is he going to say? He's not going to say one of the players he signed to coach left and the other is a pain in the arse, and that his people have been talking with IU. I'm holding out reservations on Donovan, but this is what I'd expect him to say.

There's only one guy I believe in to be the guy. It is Billy freaking Donovan. Give him the farm, the key to the city, the baddest b!tch in the world, the biggest Jaeger bomb, etc. Get him the f@ck to Bloomington!

There is way too much smoke behind this Donovan stuff for us not to have at the very least a legit shot at him.

FWIW, seems to be building. A guy just posted this on 247 Been lurking around this thread religiously for the past two weeks after hearing about it from Indiana Scott on the Hoosier.com board, and since I've been here for over 15 days now (and haven't posted much there, if at all) I thought I'd join the conversation over here. I have found the whole conversation regarding Billy D intriguing. I've been wanting him since last summer (when KD went to Golden State) because I felt with him gone BD wouldn't want to continue with the Thunder very long; he didn't sign up to not be a contender. From my sources, RW is a gifted player but a pain in the &^$% (cussing not allowed here,right?). And if you look at BD's track record, you couldn't ask for a better coach who would consistently have you in contention for championships. His teams have always been very good defensively (occasionally great), take care of the ball and more than adequate on the offensive end (compare that to Crean, whose teams were entirely reliant on offensive execution; his teams were poor defensively and had 1 in 5 possessions end in TO's). I know a few people (I can't say who) who have known Donovan since his days as a UK assistant under Pitino. They tell me he's a better person than he is a coach, extremely down-to-earth. I've been hearing from one of them that BD is indeed going to be our next coach, and he is a guy who has been right about a LOT of stuff that's gone on in Bloomington the last 4 years. Does that make it fact? No - but when you consider everything, it seems entirely plausible. I know one of the insiders here is suffering from PMS (had beer shoot out my nose as I was reading that ) but if anyone wants to shoot me a message I can provide what I know and compare.
