#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Dave from Dayton replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
First thing on the news this morning... IU Football Helmut on the big screen...IU Football Heisman Trophy Winner Quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the top selection in tonight's NFL draft! It sure is wonderful to have my IU National Champions in Football banner outside among all of these aging OSU banners. Neighbors in back see my stained-glass IU suncatcher...and they are from Ft. Wayne. We want another one, just like the other one! - Today

That was before Ryan Carr was brought on board. Lots of talent over there just need to find the right fit. -

I agree he is might be a poor fit, but he is still a damn good coach. Running him off after 3 seasons would be a mistake barring some epic collapse. But he is held to the standard to follow up the greatest coach in the history of college football. An impossible task, but firing him following 9-3 seasons is how you risk turning into Auburn or post-Urban Florida.

The two we got last year were massive busts. One played a couple of games and the other never saw the court. -

Gavin Sykes to TCU. He was the sharp shooting wing I was hoping for. All the portal targets on Coach Adragna's portal tracker have gone elsewhere. Looks like all that's left are the potential over production guys which is ok for a couple but would like at least one to compete for rotation minutes. Maybe we get a Euro surprise. -

Interested to hear if you have knowledge of spending for the 2026 year and projections beyond. I have heard rumor from booster we have a decently significant increase in NIL for this coming year and projection for 2027. We will most likely never spend like Alabama, OSU, and maybe 10-15 other schools. But our investments have risen quite a bit once the pocketbooks saw we had someone competent at the helm. -

Sort of agree. It's an interesting group... far from a strength but with interesting potential. Burton, Sherrell and Yig are obvious talents, but the wings will be the most apparent area that we'll be able to see how effective Carr was at guiding roster construction and how DDV does coaching them. Lindsay is the only proven volume 3 point shooter. He's good for about 3 makes a game on 7 attempts. I haven't been able to find stats, but it looks like he can create them off the dribble and as a catch and shooter comfortably. It seems like they're also projecting Harris to be the other high volume 3 point shooter. By the sound of it he is much more of a catch and shoot threat than a guy who can create for himself. Burton is good for 1 or 2 a game on 3-5 attempts. You don't want Mustaf shooting 3s too often but he brings a very valuable skill set in being able to penetrate and get "down hill" ... not sure how this group will do on defense. Luckily we have rim protection now. I think our offense will thankfully be much less reliant on 3s falling with this makeup + Sherrell and Yig. We don't want Sherrell ripping a ton of 3s IMO. If he's the 4 he is not shooting 3s like Tucker IMO. We definitely will need Harris to play at least solid in his role to be a very good team IMO. Thankfully he seems positioned for the 6th man role. If he doesn't pan out so well, PAM could have a larger than expected role. -
The only thing I can figure is that he was looking to leave now. And create an epic disaster.

Trilly said our last 3 spots would probably just be roster filler types. I still want a Luke Goode clone if he’s out there. Maybe that’s Trent -
This is an insane extension. The fan base is already disgruntled and, looking at the schedule, I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose 4 games this season and miss the playoffs. Reminds me of the Tom Allen extension to prevent teams, that were never interested, from poaching him. I like DeBoer but he is a poor fit at Bama and they are going to regret this extension.

100% agree. We have filled a number of needs but an impact wing is essential and remains a glaring hole. -

Yes, that would be funny. But what we don't have is an impact wing. We have a group made up of promising but not ready and "hope they're better with us." I was being wishful and pretty specific with hopes for an impact player. He would push one of Mustaf or Harris to 6th man. Someone's going to throw a bundle at him. Why not us. -
If Bama goes 9-3, there's gonna be kooks digging up corpses, throwing them on his lawn and trying to frame him for murder.

WTF Why. Why? Did they think they weren’t paying him enough and that’s why he was failing miserably

Big.

Your thinking the new deal pays him as if he’s an elite coach but makes it easier for them to part ways when he proves he’s not?

Come on, Scott/DDV/Ryan, y’all need to take advantage of this. Montreal, Toronto, hell, go back to San Juan. I have no summer vacation plans this year.

My guy was going to be fired if the selection committee puts ND in the playoffs over them four months ago. Gets a 7-yr deal instead. Talk about a glow up, as the kids say. Wonder what that buyout is? Might be in play sooner than later.

Women show no mercy with a 14-1 run-shortened game. Troutt, Mannon & Hooks combined to limit Valpo to 3 hits and didn't walk any batters. Hoosiers pounded out 14 hits that included 4 doubles, 3 triples and 4 HR. Avery Parker increased her career HR record with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Cooper had 4 hits and 3 RBI. 5 other Hoosiers had 2 hits each. This weekend we're on the road in Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines (29-17) (7-11).
