Any reason to worry about Preston not committing so far?

I don't have a good answer there, sorry. Not much from my guys today on Preston, but it's been a quiet week from his camp apparently.

I feel like there's an outside chance he picks IU based on our hot and heavy recruitment of him. Albeit late in the game.. Crean has done well with Oak Hill Academy. And being that Preston is a "stretch" 4 who can handle the rock, shoot, rebound, and drive to score, this is the type of big that thrives in a Crean offense. Not mention, this up-tempo, high flying offense Crean has installed has to be appealing to a lot of kids. Not getting my hopes up, but sadly, I feel better about Preston than I ever did about Wilkes.

  • Final Schools: Indiana, Kansas, Syracuse, USC

Billy Preston, No. 20 on the ESPN 100, is expected to make his college commitment announcement Friday, Nov. 18, during ESPNU’s SportsCenterU. Preston will be live from ESPNU studios in Charlotte, N.C. in the 4 p.m. ET hour, between the Tire Pros Invitational matchups. The 6’10’’ power forward from Oak Hill Academy (Va.) is expected to choose between Indiana, Kansas, Syracuse and USC.

“Billy is an exceptionally talented prospect and there isn’t much he can’t do during a game,” said Paul Biancardi, National Recruiting Director. “At 6’10’’, he is a multidimensional player, a natural power forward, and arguably one of the most talented athletes in his class.”

Preston and No. 2 Oak Hill will be playing in this year’s GEICO ESPN High School Basketball Showcase, comprised of 11 premier games across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, beginning Thursday, December 1. No. 2 Oak Hill is scheduled to face No. 3 Sierra Canyon (Thursday, Dec. 15, 9 p.m.) and No. 22 Nathan Hale (Monday, Jan. 16, 1 p.m.).

Crean has done well with Oak Hill or Boo Williams...?

Not getting my hopes up because this recruitment has been a little different than others.  However, Billy would be a great get and exceptional addition to the 2017-2018 team.  He could basically replace Bryant and we might actually have almost an equal frontcourt next season.  Davis won't be sophomore Bryant but could be the anchor in the center while allowing Preston to play as a big power forward.  If we were to land Preston I would look to start Davis, Preston, and possibly Hartman or Smith at the three.  JMo is more talented than them but he would be a B1G 6th man candidate coming off the bench to replace any of them.  We could keep an 6-10 big on the floor at almost all times and have versatility throughout the frontcourt with Preston, JMo, Smith, and Moore.  I would really like to see a Hoosier commitment but I just don't see it happening.  He's been rumored to be a USC and KU lean for awhile.  I don't think our connections with Oak Hill are deep enough to pull him away from those programs.  Good luck Crean, staff, and Hoosier Nation!
