johnsoniu Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Of the 22 QBs selected in the 1st round between 2009-2016, none are still with the team that drafted them. Josh 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Just saw that Hammond's own Irv Cross died today. I remember coming home from church on Sunday mornings to watch the Bears and taking in the CBS pregame show with Irv, Brent Mussberger, Phyllis George and Jimmy the Greek. Hard to believe that Brent's the only one left. RIP, Irv. MoyeNeeded, theriverpilot, Rico and 1 other 2 1 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I hadn't been paying real close attention, but I did not have JJ Watt-to-the-Cardinals on my radar ... theriverpilot and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

LIHoosier Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Drew Brees just officially retired. That oughta knock our problems further down the local sports pages. Quote

Seems like Irsay is the only reason TY is back. Gotta crush the draft if we want to compete this year. LT, Edge, CB are huge concerns still. Rico and CSP 2 Quote

I see in no way CB is a concern: Moore, Rhodes, Tell, Carrie, Rodgers, and Ya Sin. It's not the strongest unit in the world, but it is by no means a weakness. There wasn't an edge that really stuck out to me as an option. And at LT.. I believe we don't want anymore hefty contracts on the OL because we have to pay Smith and Nelson soon. Grab a rookie LT and let him play on that contract for 4 years. thebigweave 1 Quote

No DEs that really move the needle were available, and it's possible Turay or Bangou are the guy we need there... we got Wentz for a bag of chips, LT was never going to be addressed in FA. I will admit.. I did want another WR, but a couple of those WRs were WAYYY overpaid. Complaining about Ballard is absurd at best. Quote

So I think Rock is among the worst corners in the league. He knows that this year is make it break for him so maybe we will see improvement. It would be huge for the team if he was good but I’m not going to hold my breath on that one. Tell and Rogers are depth pieces. I think Ballard will absolutely take a CB on the first couple picks this week. I like Ballard, he’s made some great picks but he’s definitely missed some too. This team is going to have to be reliant on rookies at key positions to be a contender. And Wentz has to be good of course. Edge might be the biggest weakness on this team. He can’t miss there again. Wilson? Who else has he missed on? He's a Top 5 GM. Tell is much more than a depth piece, imo. He was starting at the end of his rookie year. I don't think Rock is anywhere close to one of the worst corners, needs to be better... for sure. But you also left out two pro bowl caliber players in Rhodes and Moore.. why? Quote

But you also left out two pro bowl caliber players in Rhodes and Moore.. why? I agree that Rhodes and Kenny are good CBs. But you need more than two good cbs. Maybe our young guys already on the roster will step up but you realistically need 4 quality cbs to be in good shape there imo. Rock was a bottom 20 cb graded by pff last year and tends to grab receivers for PI. TJ Carrie is a solid corner but not someone you want starting every down imo. Not to mention Rhodes only got signed for 1 more year. As far as draft misses: Malik Hooker, Banagu, Basham, Rock, and too early to tell on Turay and Campbell. Injuries play a part in some of these for sure. He has drafted well and I agree he’s a good gm but he has had some whiffs at DE and CB. The two most important spots on defense. Quote

I like Ballard and his staff's ability to identify talent. Always have been one of his bigger supporters. I just have issues with the coaching staff he has chosen and their ability to develop talent, as well as get the most out of talent. Its possible to support a guy w/o praising every single thing they do Quote
