Colts / NFL Game Thread

Who else saw the story that Jeff Fisher was eyeing the Colts as a potential team to come coach? Lol, dude stay away. No NFL team should want you as a coach.

Yeah he put it out there he wanted to coach the Bears too. If my Bears got him our GM needs to be fired on the spot.

Can you make an argument that a potent running game takes pressure off Luck as well? Makes the play action something you have to respect.

I personally think Barkley is best RB coming into the NFL since AP, so I wouldn’t be disappointed if I were you guys. It’s just not typical in today’s NFL if Chubb is there to take RB over him. It’s all about draft value. It worked well for the Cowboys. They had probably the best line in football before that pick, but like you said it could open up things. I wouldn’t be opposed to it if my Bears were in a similar situation as you guys. There are really only 3 players thought of good enough for top 5 after QB’s. Barkley, Chubb, and Fitzpatrick from Bama. I could see an O lineman sneaking into the discussion for a top 5 before it’s said and done as well.

Considering that the Colts will have the number 1 non QB pick, I expect this pick to be a big time difference maker. Preferably an All Pro guy but if not, hopefully a perennial pro bowl guy.

I hope they don't stretch for an offensive lineman who would otherwise go several spots lower. We have a lot of holes on this team and I would take the best available player. Best combination of talent, upside and character amongst the non QBs.

It definitely will be. They are in a great position. Most people feel Chubb is that guy. I haven’t seen any mocks that have Barkley going to the Colts but it’s so early. I have only seen Fitzpatrick and Chubb. Early in August and September most thought Key and Williams would be top 5 picks. I think it has been pretty unanimous for last month or 6 weeks Allen, Darnorld, Chubb, Barkley, and Fitzpatrick as the top 5 in that order. I hope Darnold goes 1. I don’t think you guys can really go wrong.

Barkley should be the pick imo, a great RB would be a perfect sidekick and help Luck out tremendously. There’s just something about Chubb that gives me an uneasy feeling.

I’m really interested in Nagy and Richards for the HC job. I’d love Harbaugh but if I had to guess I’d say there is a .0001% chance of that happening.

Matt Nagy expected to be named next Bears head coach. Fast riser through the coaching ranks

Andy Reid spoke very highly of him over the last year. Idk, he has 5 games of actually calling plays. Might be a bit soon. Not a ton of highly sought after candidates either. We will see I suppose. Sounds like Colts are getting McDaniels.

I liked Nagy probably more than I should of. I think it might take a year or two, but I think he is a good hire.

McDaniels has started to grow on me. I don't want him, but Shurmur isn't getting much love at all, which is weird. Keep hearing him to Arizona.

Honestly I was kind of hoping the Bears wouldn’t land McDaniel. I don’t know what it is, I just don’t like him. His tenure in Denver reminded me of Lane Kiffin at USC. I like Shurmur to be honest. I think him and Patricia will make good coaches.

So Dave Kaplan is reporting that the Colts were all in on Nagy, but he preferred the Bears because of the question of Luck's health, rosters being the biggest factors why Nagy chose the Bears. Kaplan is basically a guy who does radio work in Chicago, though this is probably a bit oversimplified.

Not really buying it. So we're just setting up these interviews with other coaches to just hire a guy who has so little experience? Seems like he is just trying to pump up what a lot of people think is at best right now a decent hire.

Plus, Colts have a number of young pieces in place, plus 82 million dollars in cap space this off-season.

Despite all that they also have Irsay

I should add Kaplan is a Cubs homer, and a Chicago sports homer. He doesn’t just throw things out there. Everything I have been reading suggests everyone is looking for the next McVay. Is Nagy that? I am a Bears fan and I don’t know. He inherits a solid young roster with a QB he wanted instead of Mahomes last year. We have close to $50 mill in cap space. We need CB and WR. We are in a good spot too. Definitely not a playoff team next year but we are a team to grow with. The Colts are where we were last year, and nobody knows how your $100 million QB arm is going to hold up. I hope you guys don’t end up with McDaniels. You watch Irsay will go outside of the box and bring in Shaw from Stanford. Or Dabo. Nagy had interviews with the Bears, Colts, and Lions. We will see. I am not sold yet.

Whats your take on the whole Nagy-Trubisky connection? I guess they stayed in pretty close contact throughout his rookie season, and Nagy liked him a ton in the draft process.

Reading into it from an outside perspective Nagy could be hitching his wagon to Trubisky same as Pace.

I think he has to or did when he agreed to coach the Bears. Pre-draft everyone knew the Chiefs were going hard after a QB. They were in on that second pick too. He supposedly is very good with QBs. He was an AFL QB. I hope he surrounds himself with an excellent D Coordinator. Hopefully Fangio stays. Trubisky has obvious talent, but no receivers and Fox with Loggains were horrible.

Wow. Jacksonville is going to be one of the Final 4 teams left. I wouldn't have guessed that. This also means I'll have to root for them over NE next week. Which is painful.

I would bet a good amount of money NE making it to the Super Bowl.
