I don't know, I've got a bad feeling that Purdue is actually going to make a good hire. Pelini won like 70% of his games at Nebraska. I'm also concerned they're going to go after P.J. Fleck. Their last two hires have been so bad, I'm not sure they could do worse.

They can go after him but I'm not sure Fleck would go there. He'll have other offers that would benefit him more.

Doyel from Indy star on B1G decision to play games on Friday night. Good read. Speaks to how much this will hurt high school football and what a money grab this is.

Read the article: I understand the points but it's one home game every three years. When put in the context of a money grab, sure it looks bad, but I think there has been an overreaction. For B1G programs that struggle with lower attendance and that get consistently regulated to secondary cable channels, this is a good exposure opportunity and could act as a shot in the arm for attendance.

And I know at least the IHSAA commissioner was brought in for his thoughts. Delaney didn't just ignore everyone with recklessness.

I'm not sure it will lead to better attendance. How many people will take Friday off work to go see a game?

I worry that the attendance may be lower than a Saturday afternoon game and IU already struggles with attendance.

Yes it will lead to better exposure on TV but showing half full stadiums may not add much.

I just worry that it's a slippery slope when it comes to money.

Time will tell how this plays out but I'm suspect.

I agree with you if the Friday game was a regular occurrence, but once every three years I see it as a second homecoming opportunity. Might lose fans who are coming in from a longer distance, but I think there's potential for a greater student attendance. It will come down to how much these B1G schools want to promote the game. Treat the game as a normal game and attendance will be worse. Treat it like a second homecoming, making game day on campus a festive atmosphere and it could work. Students are already out on a Friday afternoon on Kirkwood, get them to the game, then they can party afterwards.

ESPN and the Networks will want to see this game succeed as much as anyone else, they don't want to broadcast a half empty stadium.

Of course it all comes down to if the team is good. Everyone wants to go to a nationally televised game when your team is good. No one wants to see your team get crushed on national television.

1 hour ago, Josh said:

I just realized I'm a reversible jacket fan.  I have two favorite teams...IU and whoever is playing Purdoo.  Go Minnesota, close them out!

We're an UGA victory away from hitting the IU superfecta.

IU Win

ND Loss

PUke Loss

Notre Dame loses another one how much longer is Brian Kelly around for?

If Kelly is terminated less than a year after signing a contract extension, Father Jenkins should be sacked as well for allowing the school to pay Kelly over $10M to leave when it hasn't finished paying Weis $19M.
