Don’t you think that maybe 1 game is not enough to make this kind of evaluation?

He brought in 70 new players. It’s gonna take a minute for that many new guys to get on the same page.

How many new guys did Cig bring in last year? His result: 11-2 and a playoff berth. Cig may not have brought in 70, but he brought in quite a few.

It was so bad and it's UNC, so I felt fine posting a very negative view.  Almost everything (scheme, tackling, effort) was not good or exceptionally bad.

Agree getting 70 new guys on the same page will take time, but that's one of their big problems -- how much time will it take and will it ever happen?  The staff has never done this before.  Recruiting analysts don't like their portal class (they took several guys no one else wanted).  And very portal heavy teams have tendency to quit if the season gets sideways -- mercenary issues.  Plus they have the whole Jordan and Bill sideshow distraction.

They do have an easy schedule which helps.

We'll see.

If I am wrong, it sure wouldn't be the first time!

You’re correct about the number of players CC brought in.  But I think it’s possible that CC’s success made/makes UNC fans believe that a coach like Belichick can easily duplicate what a non-football school like IU did with an unknown small school fb coach.  I mean…it’s the NFL GOAT HC…right??   LOL

His buyout is $63million!! That's a lot of jack, even for Bama. Link

He's gonna get another year, but the hilljacks are gonna be riled up!

These buyouts are just stupid at this point.  Hiring a coach is such a crapshoot. Your basically setting yourself up for failure

I feel like Deboer is already fired, they just don’t want to scare away the next hire by announcing it yet.

At least DeBoer didn't lose at home to Louisiana-Monroe.  Nick did that.

My other thought is who are they gonna hire next? There are good coaches, but the Saban era ain't happening again in the current environment, even if they convinced Saban to come back. Bama can't just out-bid everyone anymore for top talent. Although I think Deboer is a good guy, I personally am delighted to see Bama struggle.

Remember, you can't spell "incest" without "SEC".

I just wish Kalen wouldn't have taken the job.

Doesn't matter what any of us think in here.  It matters what the people at UNC think.

I bet he does too! He's a good coach, just seems out of place there.

Yep.  Should have stayed with the Huskies.  He had damn near attained Don James status out there in a short period of time.

The dude has consistently failed to build teams.  The one exception in his career was when he had Tom Brady.  Outside his Brady years he had 2 winning seasons vs 8 losing years.

Andy Reid is the coach of this generation consistently building teams around any number of players

Not a Belicheck fan, and don’t want to see him be uber successful. However, if he can get UNC playing well enough to knock off Florida State/ Clemson or whoever else the ACC has as a leader, and can limit the conference to one playoff spot, that would be beneficial to the B1G/ IU.

Arch falls out of the top 50 and Mendoza falls to 43rd.

Low rankings for the future Heisman winner and #1 draft pick…:)

And people are already turning on the guy after one loss.

Well he certainly didn’t look like his press clippings.

I am sure he will be a good QB in another three years.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/46158471/ncaa-move-one-football-transfer-portal-january

Quote

Major changes are coming to the transfer portal in college football after the NCAA Football Oversight Committee voted Thursday to move to a January transfer window and eliminate the spring window, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The proposed lone transfer window would be a 10-day period that opens Jan. 2, 2026, one day after the College Football Playoff quarterfinals are completed.

FBS coaches voted unanimously to support the January portal proposal during their American Football Coaches Association convention earlier this year, saying it will give players and coaches more time to focus on finishing their season while preserving the opportunity for players to transfer to their new school for the spring semester.
