Am I the only one here that has an issue with Rojo putting this on social media? I'm biased on this issue since I am a law enforcement officer, but I think him going out and putting these type of comments up are uncalled for. Especially since Sterling had a gun in his pocket and already pointed at people outside of the restaurant. Maybe I'm blowing this way out of proportion but Rob definitely lost a fan tonight.

Not at all. College is a place you go to educate yourself on different backgrounds and ideas just as much as book work and basketball. He's getting involved with a huge national issue now.

My point on the whole issue is WTF are you doing in the first place to have LE called and why do you not listen to the police to decrease the tensions and then talk?!

I try to separate players from their personal views because otherwise I don't think I would want to root for some of my favorite players. Same with actors/actresses and their movies. One thing is for sure though, you couldn't pay me enough to be a cop in today's America.

I'm also law enforcement. Over 26 years worth.

I think that he weighed in eloquently, that the problem is real, and that good people speaking publicly is how difficult situations get attention, and are improved.

Not having all the facts yet on a particular episode, and venturing to weigh in on a related difficult national issue? That's what free speech is all about. It is a positive when people do so with some restraint and thought. It does not matter if well meaning people all reach the same conclusion about an incident. It also doesn't mean it needs to be done with completely sanitized conclusions.

RoJo is a leader, and is a smart young man who has a proven track record of complete respect for authority. Still a big fan, and I think that any law enforcement officer would be a fan if they sat in the same room as him.

The only issue I take with any of this is generalization of this public problem. Yes black lives matter. We are discussing isolated issues and generalizing this as just all cops and just black lives. Police brutality does not involve every police officer and it surely does not involve only African Americans. I have seen my equal share of brutality on Caucasians. Stuff like that is also isolated, but it is not sensationalized due to Black Lives Matter being on tv daily. As with any profession there are bad seeds. But the over-generalization of events without all of the facts has become dangerous. In some cases racism is the root cause. But not every incident needs months long protests over race. Meeting violence with violence is dangerous if not more so than these incidents. There needs to be discussions at higher levels to determine how to prosecute these isolated issues so it is not just a murder or freedom issue. More times than not the police can cast doubt on their scenario even when it's obvious unfortunately.

Another incident occurred this morning involving a traffic stop. Devontae Green is weighing in on social media today.

It's a very complicated situation. Each event is an event unto itself. I think some/many are provoked or situations where suspect isn't acting accordingly to police requests. I think there are others where police seem to overstep their bounds. It gets lumped together as always the police overreacting due to racism.

Things need to change somehow, someway.

What people don't see is what police deal with on a day to day. I think that creates much of what leads to these national events.

He posted his opinion on a current issue in our country and did so respectfully. I see no issue.

You can disagree with him, but that doesn't mean he has any obligation to muffle his opinion and thoughts on the matter.

I definitely agree. I think it's more than a current issue. I think it's a constant issue long before we were all alive that needs attention for everyone, not just blacks. Social media helps bring this issue and others such as rape on college campuses to the forefront.

Every person on Facebook and Twitter thinks their opinion is important. Usually doesn't mean crap to me so I ignore them, especially the athletes, unless somebody goes overboard. Wouldn't surprise me if half the team had the same feelings as Rojo so I wouldn't let it affect my fandom just yet.

My main issue with his post is that he said " the number of black individuals being killed by police is a problem" I just feel like some of his 15k followers are going to take that as him thinking all cops are bad/racist. But maybe I'm wrong

He made no comments on whether police are good or bad, just that the number (probably relative to the population) is bad.
