Quality Young Coaches vs Tom Crean.

Lol. Dude just because someone posts something doesn't mean it's well thought out. Congrats to Marshall for winning at the MVC level. He is one hell of a coach. There are coaches like him at various levels that do the same. D1, 2, and 3. Could they all coach at IU? The funny thing is Marquette wants to get back to Crean level success.

Going to answer a couple responses in one post since you said my post was the most ignorant you had seen on this site in awhile. I find it funny out of everything that is posted on this site that is the post you chose to put down as ignorant, but we have had our run ins on other sites so I shouldn't be surprised.

I may have mixed up the final four requirement and the coaching search for Crean bit may have been for Sampson but it was a requirement for one of them. Unless the AD was just spinning for not getting his guy. The point was having March success can't be the only borameter bc it either landed us a terrible hire in Sampson or a mediocre on in Crean.

Marquette does not want to return to Crean level success. It's been almost a decade since he left and they still can't stand the guy. Before every home game they boo Tom Crean. They won't put that on their official website but it's how the alumni feel about him. Crean is viewed there like many view him here. He had 1 team that he made his name off of and nothing after. They want consistant success not just a flash in the pan.

Not sure about Virginia's tempo, but their Off Efficiency is currently 12th and was 24th in 2015 and 21st in 2014.

 

Give me a Butler or Virginia team that plays great D and values the ball. Over a team that scores 80 but turns the ball over 18-20 times a game.

Well their fans aren't that smart. They ranked 60+ weeks in a row within 5 years of him being there. They hadn't been ranked 30 weeks in the previous 25 years. He is better than what they had combined for a quarter century in his first 5 years. They can bitch all day about how bad of a coach he is but it doesn't change the facts. Same as us.

I love Jay, he was an amazing college player and probably would have been a good pro, but this would be an awful idea. Zero coaching experience, let alone head coaching experience. It wouldn't just be a gamble, it would be a mistake.
