Finally doing it!

Recommended Posts

Went to my first IU FB game during parent's weekend when my kid was a frosh, now that kid is a junior and I am finally crossing into the sacred shrine that is Assembly Hall - just booked the hotel and picked up some tickets for the Minnesota game on 1/30.  Cross this one off of my bucket list!

You're gonna love it. I'll never forget my first game in AH. Can't wait until my son is old enough to share that experience with him.

That's great!!!!! Have fun! You should take in the whole IU experience by staying with your kid! Drink his arse under the table! ;)

Seriously. You'll have a great time!

The key is booze pockets. Little sealed baggies of booze you carry in your pockets and add to the sodas in the bathroom. Classic student's trick for the Hall. The kid will love it.

I remember my first time in the Hall back when i was a Junior in HS (First year of Tommy Boy?). Can't tell you how many open seats were available. We walked right into the Hall and had front row seats in section E.

Although it's a mess getting there (37) and the south end being under construction, it still sure is pretty.

Congrats!

That's awesome.  Have a lot of fun, and the best advice I can give you is to get there about two hours early to walk around Assembly Hall and Cook Hall.  Take it all in, and it allows you to get plenty of pictures with minimal people.  I always try to do this, because I'm lucky to go once a year.

Well we are coming in Friday from Buffalo, so hopefully we will time the 37 right

Could go through Columbus,IN --- Nashville,IN----Bloomington. Roads aren't the greatest in Nashville, but it COULD possibly be faster. Most likely not, but with one lane traffic on 37, who knows.

Come through Columbus! I'll wave to you as you drive by, lol. If the roads are bad at all, avoid coming this way, as Brown County/Nashville is rough when snowy or icy.

That's a beautiful drive through Brown County and Hoosier National Forest.

You should definitely spend as much time as you have available going through Cook and Assembly Hall just taking it all in.  I still get chills walking into Assembly Hall.  Also, you can never have too many photos of both.

The baggie full of alcohol only works with some alcohol.  I had to chug a few baggies of booze after they began to leak in my cargo pockets.  The first half of that football game was rough.
