Verbal Commits, linked below, has Illinois at three open grants for next season.  This doesn't reflect Samba Kane's eligibility which is still in question.  They could realistically start the year off with 9 scholarship players with very little height.  If they can become a middle of the pack B1G team it will be due to their guard play with Frazier, Dosunmu, Williams, and Jordan (not a bad guard rotation).

Also...while I know it is just a message board fan saying it, couldn't help but giggle at the following Illini board Higgs-celebratory post [emphasis added]:

Higgs is a hell of a get this late in the process. From everything i have seen and read he plays his butt off and is really athletic. Maybe it's just because he's a lefty but that stroke looks really nice as well. If this dude was 4 inches taller he would basically be Marvin Bagley.

I'm laughing so hard at some of the posts today on Illinois Loyalty. A couple are actually comparing them to the Illini team in 89.

They only need to read the last couple days for laughs, but to get context, go to when their last transfer happened. Brass Cannon, do you post on there once in a while? Every so often I see a brass cannon posting there.

Honest opinion is that if Underwood doesnt knock out 2019 recruiting including grad transfers i  think his days are numbered

Right I can’t imagine too many people letting that slide. I didn’t see it so I don’t know who. But I have seen some pretty big sunshine pumpers and they wouldn’t. It’s almost impossible with the modern level of talent as is. Completely ignorant whoever said that and I would be shocked if they weren’t called out.
