@akmccarthy: One of IU's commits has been upgraded from a three-star to a four-star #iufb

He was talking about Coy Cronk who was upgraded by 247 sports. This is what they had to say: "We've made Coy Cronk a 4-star on 247Sports.Give it some time for the rankings to show up on the profile. We love his upside, his athleticism and versatility."

And we got him right out of the PUkes backyard.  I should head over to G&B and troll StlBoiler lmao

Also now reading Allen Stallings a DE who committed to Central Michigan a couple weeks ago will be visiting this weekend.

That kid has amazing film. What an athlete. He's undersized because he wrestles and had to make weight, but wrestlers usually make tremendous football players. Sign him up and give him a year to bulk up.

IU Coach Kevin Johns
‏@IUKevinJohns
Pinstripe Bowl appearance has helped our recruiting in NYC, lots of respect from HS Coaches & Players! #btownblitz ready to finish strong!

This proves that while a lower rated bowl might not be ideal (considering the bowl market is over-saturated) for fans, it can pay dividends as far as program exposure is concerned.

Not to be a downer but ESPN recruiting nation has our current recruiting class at #13 out of #14. Only Rutgers behind us. Coy Cronkite rated as our best by ESPN. Penn State surprisingly to me, has a strong class. Of course, OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, et al with strong classes.

Its not going to be ranked highly simply because it's smaller, unless we find more room. There's no denying we have improved the caliber of kid we recruit. Just look at the offers. For star gazers, Cronk is a 4 star on 247 and Scout and Morris is a 4 on Scout.

Also, having us behind PU is laughable. Their class is a train wreck and the best players decommitted.

Just saying I'd trust the 247 and Scout sites. I believe that ESPN just focuses on top talent and never re evaluates the 3 stars or lesser talents.

Small class, and that's ESPN. Like lucel said ESPN focuses on top talent and "name" football schools. I rarely even look for anything on recruiting there. On the other hand, 247 has us at 11th in the B1G and 52nd overall. Not bad with only 16 commits. Scout has us at 59th and they are missing a commit. Rivals has us at 70th.

Good post. I have noticed this as well. It appears ESPN places a big weight on their own Top 300.

WayneFleek: a lot of fans in this topic are excited because of the schools we are going against for these three star guys. We aren't beating out MAC schools, we are getting guys that have big offers or decommitted from big schools.

In addition, we are starting to see the type of residual results that successful programs have. We are finally breaking into the talent rich Ohio and got a lot of really good recruits from there for 2016. This past week we saw the fruits of our staff's labor recruiting the Tampa area.

In addition, CKW, Coach Johns with the QBs/WRs, Coach Frey with the OL, Coach McCullough with the RBs, have been excellent at developing talent. I'm excited to see what they do the next couple of years with the sort of talent we are getting now.

On the defense, Coach Allen and Coach Inge are going to get some awesome results as well! These guys are working their tails off on the recruiting trail!
