I'm not much of a Colin fan but he does seem to play harder then most, he's just not athletic enough to be able to stay in front of some of the guys he gets matched up with, probably why he fouls.

Thing is, as has been mentioned here- it's probably too late with a lot of these guys, as far as respecting Crean's authority. Too many promises to players, parents, and HS coaches I suspect for him to be able to suddenly motivate with authority rather than praise. I feel bad for Crean, honestly. He is just coaching the way he knows how and the way that fits his personality. I admire his courage in taking the IU job and challenging himself but not sure he is suited to be the head coach at a pressure cooker like IU. Crean is perfect for a place like Marquette, just not a place like IU.

I won't drop a name because the mods hate it when we criticize specifically, however one of our starting guards is a glorified 3pt shooter.

i don't disagree with the notion but the connotation reads very harshly. I don't like the cancer metaphor in sports. Sorry, but I get your point.

The team is lost right now. Lacking set plays, lacking a true go to guy that is trusted. Defense isn't even close. No one is buying in. They are trying to randomly set picks to create offense. No sets. And...a bad rebounding team.

thats pretty much exactly right. I will say we had certain games in year 4-5 that the offense looked incredible. Mostly against weak teams that let us play fast and didn't zone us.

We've always looked good when we can run.  Force us to the halfcourt and oof, weave and total street ball.  Like he went from a middle school game to Rucker Park and thought "wow, such a great offensive approach".

I disagree, I feel like he has been one of the best players on the court consistently all season.

 

Look at the Box Score & I look like a total fool! Look at any stats and I look so very wrong.... but if the eye test means anything he has been the best player on the floor. Constant hustle, constant defense (he may not have the best tools but for those saying defense is all about wanting a stop and effort I feel he gives 100% every possession), rebound position, diving for loose balls, shooting and decisions with the ball (he is not the one dribbling the air out of it every possession - he gets it and immediately moves it or shoots it.)

Bryant did play like a Freshman at times, but no way he shouldn't start.

As to whatever occurred between them, I applaud Bryant's passion nonetheless. We need leaders on the court that learn, absorb, impart and put into practice what they should've grasped at this point. I don't care who does it (and Yogi would seem like the natural choice) just that it gets done, so we see a cohesive push with smart play and indomitable displays of energy and effort by every single player that wishes to see time on the floor.

Respect is earned not given. If Yogi wants to be treated/respected like a leader he should act like a leader first.
