Wouldn't surprise me to lose 4 starters and maybe a bench transfer. We gotta add more than Cujo and DD. Don't wait til spring when the pickins are slim.

On the bright side if we lose 4 starters, we'll probably have a damn good year this season. Unfortunately on the recruiting front I don't know who we have left to target, obviously Alkins/Maker/Gordon but who is out there after those three?

Yea, it would mean TB had a great year. Other than the three you mentioned I don't know. Its why I predict we will add 1 or 2 guys off the radar.

We heard the same things about Watford not wanting to be in school for X years. I would hope James' parents are smart enough to not let him leave if there's a chance he won't be drafted, but who knows.

Pretty much this. I love Blackmon, but would he leave after this season to be a 2nd round pick at best? His game is great in college at least offensively but it really doesn't translate very well to the NBA. His handle still isn't great and he doesn't have the speed or the lateral agility to make up for it.

I'm taking credit for Watford. I drunkenly rambled about how he wasn't ready to go to the NBA and listed the players I expected to make teams before him in that draft and why, all while sitting behind his family at a game (did not know they were there until after).

In retrospect, maybe he should have. He couldn't have ended up somewhere worse than he did, and he was still riding the Wat Shot high at that point, so maybe could have gotten a little boost. Probably not though, the next year's team gave him such a great opportunity to show off his skills.

I don't think he is NBA ready at all, mostly based on athleticism and quickness. Jamal Murray passes the eye test over James in 2 games. NBA scouts will agree. His athleticism will hold him back much like CWAT. Really needs to channel his inner Steph Curry. Could be similar "type" players. Love him for IU though. The D will get there, I hope. Speaking to his mother makes me think they would let him go in 2nd round. I was surprised about this. Figured mom would push hard for academics and probably does but James wants the NBA badly.

Even with Steph Curry his handle is insane. The things he can do with the ball make up for his lack of explosiveness. Blackmon doesn't have that. Any time he has to dribble and try to create for himself it's usually not good. His game is fine in college obviously when you look at his PPG, but it won't work well in the NBA.

I think he can make a lot of money overseas.

A lot of schools are getting out recruited by them... Our recruiting class is top 15 yet you guys act like it sucks.

Considering how much we pay our coaching staff and how big our recruitment budget it this is absurd that

FSU

MIami

MSU

Alabama

are all out recruiting us.

I would include UNC in that list but I am sure there is just something else funny going on there.

I'm not sure JBJ will ever make the NBA. JMHO. Too small and unathletic to play SG and no handles to play PG. Am I the only one who sees this? He's a nice college player and all but NBA?

He could play in the NBA.  If he would just have played some defense last year he probably could have gotten drafted last year.

These are some top 100 kids off of 247 we should be checking into. When you look at 247 options seem super open and not as slim as I thought at first
Kobi Simmons (combo guard)
Jarret allen (center)
Kostas antetokoumpo (wing)
Andrew jones (combo guard)
Richard freudenburg (wing)
Kwe Parker (pg)
Taurean Thompson (post player)
I would love me some little Greek freak controlling our defense

In fairness---we are not JUST adding CuJo and Davis. Grant Gelon will provide situational help as a shooter in the Z3/Matt Roth mode according to people in the know like Kendrick. We are also forgetting about Josh Newkirk who transferred in from Pitt and is sitting out and recovering from an injury this year. He may have only been a 3-star out of high school but he led his team to a state championship and his quickness and athleticism caught the eye of many high D-1 schools as he had offers from Indiana, Arizona, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Memphis, Missouri, etc.  He was developing his game at Pitt including much improved 3-point shooting (5/5 against NC State and went 8/8 from 3-point range during that stretch) before his injury and he ate our lunch on drives in the BigTen/ACC challenge. IMO he is no longer just a 3 star as he now has experience from Pitt and IU (where he will practice against our great guards).  I call it now that he will go from sleeper to major surprise.

I see Davis as an immediate starter and impact player inside.

I see one of CuJo or Newkirk as a starter (if JBJ leaves unless Rawle comes) and the other will get plenty of minutes. Both will be productive.

I see Gelon as a role player who will be brought along slowly. He will grow into a Z3/Roth type of role.

In summary---We already have a Big and 2 instant impact guards in the fold and another key role player with a pure stroke. We are off to a good start with plenty of time to add more. I would like to see a wing added and that should not be a problem for Crean--because we all know how he loves his wings!
