Everyone really needs an hdmi cord for their laptops to hook up to the TV. They're not expensive.

Depends on brand and length, they can be a little costly for a cable.  This is where the musician part of me says (from experience) do not cheap out on the cable, get a good brand and don't get a cable any longer than you need.

It's not 1966 anymore. Get it together Natty's laptop manufacturer.

It's a Lenovo, a lot of Lenovo's don't have them.  It was an oversight by myself when I bought it...it's one of those options I thought everyone laptop had and didn't even look.  Oh well.  Solid laptop.  Built like a tank.  Will buy another one when this dies.

I disagree.  the $6-$8 HDMI cables from monoprice are just as nice as the $50-$60 at best buy.

Personally I wouldn't chance it, I've paid the price of getting a cheap cable and had to replace both the cable and a part of my guitar.  Look at it this way, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link and the cable is the link between you laptop and the TV; the price isn't just about the name (although that is a part of it), there's how it's made and the quality of materials and generally the more expensive cables use better materials and the company put more research and development into it.

A cheap cable can have a big impact on signal quality (again, I learned this from experience), so does having a cable that is too long.

I get it, 150%.  Just saying that every cable I have (aside from what came w/a component) is a $6-$8 monoprice special and they haven't failed me once.  Again, just my own experience...to each their own at the end of the day, right?

Right.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell someone what to do it's just advice from my experience; I also wouldn't advise someone get a ridiculously expensive cable if they can't afford it, I'd advise getting the most expensive that they can afford if that's 6-8 so be it but not going 6-8 if they can go to 20-30.

Hey, I'm not trying to sound like a snob.  I've got some cheap cables and have had good luck with some of them; admittedly most of them I got before I knew what I know now and I didn't have as much coming in or they're on devices I hardly ever use so the signal quality isn't a big issue to me.  My instrument cable though cost over 50 and it's at most 6 ft (Mogami Gold).

I've been using cables from Monoprice for over 10 years. Great quality, good price.
