GOP Debate...

Recommended Posts

Gotta fund all that "free" stuff somehow.

Yay free stuff!!  (tic...kinda)

Pretty impressive that this thread has gone this far without getting overtly political, and without blaming the one person who everybody knows is primarily at fault...

Bush, er, Obama, er....Nixon?....errrrrrrr....the Black and White Panthers???

I feel like it's come to the point where y'all need to know the identity of the finest Presidential candidate there is:

VERMIN SUPREME!!!

To control you.

Because everything they tell you is for your own good!

I agree that both sides pander toward their party leaders instead of their constituents.  It's like picking the least of the evils on election day.  Both parties are in it for them.

That's why I'm not surprised that my top three matches on that website contained both parties.  Neither side is a saint.

not gonna lie...

it is fascinating to me that the Republican debate has become a somewhat hot topic on an Indiana University based discussion board (albeit a sports board)...

one of the THE most liberal universities in all of America...

the Dalai Lama is probably happy right now...but maybe not...

I am not sure that IU is one of the most liberal universities.  Maybe Socially liberal, but Indiana overall is still a very conservative state.  I think IU is a liberal bastian in Indiana, but that is probably as far as it goes.  I know the University of Wisconsin, is much more liberal than IU, and it doesn't even make the top list of liberal colleges based from US News and World Report.  (And yes they do rank everything in regards to college now days. )

the state of Indiana is an enigma...in 2012...Indiana overwhelmingly voted for Pence as Governor...something like 65 to 35 percent...but voted 55 to 45 to elect Obama.  IU is as liberal as they come, though...

Other than a few professors on campus (looking at you, Olson) IU is a pretty liberal community as far as students go. You may be talking about the leadership at IU though, which I admittedly know nothing about.

IU's too liberal for my liking, but you'll find that at most big universities these days. Luckily most of the professors I've had here so far do a good job of leaving their political ideologies at the classroom door instead of being the stereotypical liberal college professor "indoctrinating" their students. Gotta be careful when you're speaking in class though, some of the more extreme far left students are dying to pounce on a conservative kid.

I'm sure a Demy thread will pop up during their debates

I think like Hoosierfan2017 said, "but you'll find that at most big universities these days"  I think IU fits that bill, and they have for the last 30 + years or more.  I graduated in '87, was in ROTC and walked across campus almost every day in Uniform.  Many times had things yelled my way, and once was even egged.

I just think IU has a good contingent of conservatives, but like most college campuses the conservative students are vastly outnumbered by the liberal students.

I'll never forget the 2008 election being down in Bloomington. Obama vs McCain... I'd say for every McCain table or rally you saw on campus there were probably 20 Obama ones. It's was insane.

That wasn't just Bloomington, that was everywhere. That's why I wonder if little Bush has a chance if he gets the nomination
