IU is getting absolutely blitzed when it comes to in-state recruiting in all reconizable sports right now. Any theories as to why????

It isn't the 80's. Indiana doesn't carry the same weight it once did. We've never been good at football and the best talent is down south. In basketball the players would rather go to Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan or Michigan State. I'm fine not recruiting Indy. But if we're going to recruit out of state then we need to recruit the absolute best just like Kentucky, Duke, Kansas.

There was JUST a thread about this that died a week ago. We understand people aren't happy with his in state recruiting but that horse has been beat to death about ten times

I'm talking about all sports. I know it's a basketball board but since our Basketball fans are usually knowledgeable, I figured I would gain that perspective.

Well as far as football goes, IU has never had any big success in football, so its hard to sell the program to recruits. Wilson has had marginal success. Not all his fault because he has dealt with injuries but when the surrounding area schools have more of a history of success, its easier to get recruits buy in.
What are other recognizable sports? Football and Basketball. The baseball team seems to recruit very well and doesn't struggle for recruits, same with mens soccer.

Wilson had a really good 2013 class. But only Darius Latham and Rashad Fant are left. Antonio Allen was kicked off. David Kenney and Kris Smith transferred. Taj Williams never made it on campus. So that hurt a lot. Just like Crean's 2012 class. Both were built on a few Indiana players. Multiple ones from Indy.

Only Latham and Fant are left?? Yes we lost Kenney and Smith and now Allen, but there are other players from that class that should contribute this season. Chase Dutra, Laray Smith, Noel Padmore, Clyde Newton, TJ Simmons, Nate Hoff?

I'm talking about the 4 star players that came in that year. Fant and Latham are the only 2 of the 5 or 6 left. All defensive players except for one.

Baseball has done very well, I agree but we have lost a ton of major players to Louisville, Vandy, and Florida State in the last 2-3 years, even with our success. Losing Tracy Smith really hurt. He was building a baseball power. I'm not sold on Lemonis bringing what Smith did either. I was seriously bummed when he bolted.

Well those 3 schools are always very very good. So it makes sense for them to leave.

Except we have owned 2 of the 3 teams I've listed at the times these guys committed.

We have been beating UofL. But Vandy was just in the title game again. UofL was in the CWS again. They're much more successful than we are.

Louisville didn't make the WS this year. Last year and the year before when we did.

they lost to Fullerton in the Super Regionals? Either way it is farther than we made it. And we didn't make it to the CWS last year. We lost to Stanford. Or was that in the CWS? College baseball is difficult to keep track of.

The super regionals aren't part of the College World Series. Its like a play in series. Last year IU did make it to the CWS after beating FSU in the Super Regionals.

That was 2 years ago (or 3 now that the CWS is over). Last year (or 2 years ago) we got beat by Stanford in Bloomington.

Hova, hey for a minute I thought your head exploded. Glad it didn't.
