OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season

Recommended Posts

Big big gap though between the All Time Great camp and knocking people. I might not knock him either but the all time greats have postseason success.

Do you prefer Brady or Manning. Montana or Marino.

The all-time greats were, for the most part, on all-time great teams too, weren't they? Yogi is up on top of all these lists being on only 1 team that could be considered good or great. I don't see how he can be kept off of those lists because he had to carry hole-filled rosters two years in a row.

once again, that's your opinion. I can see where you are coming from, but I also think the media crosses the line, as do the players and fans. My idea was that all of the news takes away some luster. It's just a sign of the times that I personally don't like.

Ahhh, common ground.

Each of the men you mentioned also are/were GREAT leaders. Most people wouldn't even put Yogi in the "good" category. That's the area he needs to improve on most in my eyes.

Well two of the four teams he will have played on would be top 10 caliber teams. This is a great year to etch his name amongst the greats

Agreed. And I think he will. He'll be hungry for his senior season and shouldn't be worn down from carrying the entire school on his back.

Yogi Ferrell will absolutely go down as an all-time Hoosier great. Everyone makes mistakes along the way to becoming special. The best of the best learn from those mistakes and rise very high to become leaders on AND off the court.

I betcha Yogi will be forever looked upon as an all-time Hoosier great in the eyes of Hoosier Nation.

Yogi won't have to carry all the load anymore----he will be able to pick and choose his spots which I think will make him an even better player.  Despite all the negativity he gets----Yogi has been very good for IU.  Ask any opposing Coach who they fear the most and plan for the hardest.  And while he has been very good---this next season he has the chance to become GREAT if he can lead us to something special!  Glad he's back...

Well, at the same time (as with VJ3) stats (which is what that text was about) are more inflated when on bad teams.

Look at the Big Tens leading scorer. He was on his worst team as a Frosh, when they started 10-0 and made the NCAA's. Next 3 teams were top 10, final 4 and #1. That's an all-time great. Bailey (most wins) top 10 points, assists, steals had a sweet 16 as the low water mark.

Tom P, would have all-time stats, if his freshman team was a 4 year team.

I hope you're right. I wouldn't have any issue calling Yogi an all-time great if he leads us to a final 4

Isn't that kind of what I'm saying? Calbert and Bailey are considered greats, because they were, AND they were on great teams. Yogi is a great player, with nice stats, but can't be great because he's been on 1 good teams and 2 average ones? Team success can play a part, but I'm of the opinion that it shouldn't make or break how a career is viewed when the rosters were that poorly constructed.

I get that stats are inflated on bad teams, just look at Penn State. They always seem to have one guy averaging 20+ surrounded by 12 intramural bench players. I don't think Yogi has been on a bad enough team to inflate his stats to the point where he is undeserving of being on our mythical list.

OT why does the NBA have a date June 15th for the early entry withdrawal deadline?

They have to state by today that they are IN. But can drop out by the 6/15 date. If they don't declare by today, then they are out for sure. Agree that it makes ZERO sense from a logic point. #EschewObfuscationEspouseElucidation

yogi was on the team with vonleh that missed all post season tourneys. That's a pretty bad team, and I think that was a year that yogi scored quite a few of his points.
