I thought it was Bennett then Miller then someone else... Then Crean as a last resort. Am I wrong?

Crean wasn't a last resort. Fans can have a list like 1, 2, 3, etc but it isn't like the bachelor where there is only one stakeholder. One stakeholders top choice was Mike Montgomery.

I took exception to the statement that Miller had 0 interest.

I don't like that fundraiser! That is just plain nasty! All those pictures of our coach and the way it is set up to donate. Man that's embarrassing. .. I want IU to go in a different direction, but Fred Glass is right up there. I appreciate everything Tom and his family has done for our program. He came here when we were at an all time low. Crean deserves better. If I was a coach and my boss wanted to give me a big raise and the security to recruit. .. I would accept as well. I think it's time to make a change, but I will never forget the good that coach Crean brought to our program.

I agree Bowhunter! Coach brought us out of the darkness. I believe that his talent lies in cleaning up a program's mess, and being a promoter of said program. He did that for IU. Now we need someone who can take us to the next step. But I too will always be grateful for what Coach Crean and his family has done for IU.

This is excellent.

I'm upset with our lack of success as well, but it's not Crean's fault that he's still here. He's giving it everything he's got to succeed. It's on the administration for not making a change.

you got some bad info on here and keep regurgitating it. That isn't true

Maybe he did have some interest but not enough to take the job when offered to him. IU pushed hard for him but there wasn't enough interest on his side. Their AD was very adamant that he wasn't interested .

“People mentioning his name don’t have a bleeping idea. He’s on this list at LSU. Oh really? Is there a list? Can I see it? They say his name with teams that I know wouldn’t even cross his lips.” Xavier's AD Mike Bobinski's Interview with Rick Bozich (3/27/2008)

"Just talked to Xavier athletic director Mike Bobinski. Asked him if he was worried that he might lose his basketball coach, Sean Miller, to Indiana after Xavier’s marvelous NCAA Tournament run finally ends.

“No,” Bobinski said.

Miller and Indiana have been mentioned as a possibile marriage. But Bobinski said it’s not going to happen. Why?

“Because he (Miller) told me so,” Bobinski said." -Another Interview with Rick Bozich (3/28/2008)

You can take those quote however you want I guess but its pretty clear that there wasn't enough interest from Miller. IU definitely interested in him and wanted him after Tony Bennett turned down the job.

I get it. They were afraid to lose while they dealt with the fallout. They didn't man up.

I don't want any coach who has previously declined the position.

If you were too good for us to tarnish your win % for a couple years in '08, then you're not man enough to get a decent roster from us to piggy back off of in '15

most coaches, including Crean really had no idea how bad things were. The only obvious thing to incoming coaches were the sanctions. There was no real thought that the cupboard was bare as on paper we had a really good team. It was Crean that came in and emptied the cupboards. Not faulting him for that but some other coach could have came in and won 20 games with what we had already and just recruited better students moving forward

Not to derail, but I don't think we were going to win 20 games with anyone. We were losing EJ and DJ no matter what. Jamarcus Ellis and Deandre Thomas punched their own tickets out of town by dealing/using coke. IF Jordan Crawford, Armon Bassett and Eli Holman had stuck around it would have taken a miracle for them to have collectively pulled their heads out of their a**** and played together and made the grades. On top of all that we had the recruiting sanctions.

No one was coming in here and winning 20 games.
