Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass

Recommended Posts

I think calling for coach Crean's head after EVERY SINGLE LOSS this season is equivalent to a toddler fit. If the ship doesn't get corrected by the end of next season, it will be time for a coaching change. A coaching change at this point would have a domino effect that would not be pretty.

I call for it after a win, after a practice and after he farts into his car seat.

Please describe the domino effect

Half the team would jump ship. Even brad Stevens (who seems to be the new Jesus on this site) couldn't coach a team of walk ons to a championship.

Half the team may jump if crean stays.

Do you really believe that 6 scholarship players leave? If you do there is no convincing you but I think there have been some pretty eloquent arguments made by posters far more knowledgable than myself as to why that wouldn't be the case

And even if they do, do you believe in selling out the long term for a small short term gain?

No one would expect him to. Every knowledgable fan knows it wouldn't be a year 1 fix. There would be a transition period, but we also know Stevens could build us something great and give us a consistent contender. Even in seasons where the talent isn't as deep you wouldn't be able to sleep on the Hoosiers come tourney time with him at the helm.

No coach can live up to the expectations of this fanbase.

There are plenty of coaches that can live up to the standards of this fan base. Many of them are not available but there are some that could be had.

The problem with this is many people have so lowered their standards of this program that it is ok to be no more than a bubble team.

Here's what I see transpiring, crean gets TB and or the Makers,he gets to keep his job, if they don't make a deep run into March -early April he's toast. Or maybe he leaves for greener pastures next week. And I don't care what somebody that goes to church with somebody that heard....Until I hear it from the horses mouth, well at least we have something to discuss.

So you think the recent glass comments were meant for Bryant or maker's consumption ?

I think the timing and the generic I support TC is exactly what he had to say and what he will say until the day crean is gone. Whenever that is.

Sure we may lose players if Crean leaves, but we'd be gaining a more knowledgeable coach, so the short term may not be pretty, but the long term far outweighs all that.

Not sure where to post this... But Louisville lost Chris Jones this year and now they are in the elite 8. IU lost Luke Fischer LAST year and to some "he is the reason we weren't that good this year". After seeing Louisville in the elite 8 and MSU most likely making it, I can't take one more Tom Crean excuse. Lol (I know you've heard it before) rant over.
