The only thing we can hope is he is thinking the exact opposite as what he is saying. If this is true then why even agree to do an interview. Almost has to be some truth to what he is saying.

He has to the interview for PR.

Saying no comment simply stirs up the pot more.  What Glass is saying actually says an awful lot.  It says he is looking at all options, but that Crean is no immediate danger of losing his job.  He has to say that.  He also says he will be looking at everything once the season is over.

Sure that is reading between the lines, but just re-read what he has to say about the buyout.  He comes out front and says the buyout will not keep IU from making a change.

Now Fred might think that the span of Crean's career is better than the last two years.   (I would disagree, but I'm not the AD.)  But I think if we flame out the way we appear to be flaming out, then there will be a change relatively quickly at the helm of the IU BB program.

I hope you are right. He has to see the writing on the wall. I honestly think that if Fred get's out in front of this and makes a home run hire he keeps his job. Lots of votes of confidence on this site for Glass. If he does not and let's this linger for another year, then I think he is basically tying his boat Crean. At that point either Crean make a DEEP run in tourney and saves both their jobs or they both get stuck updating their resumes.

This is gonna get terribly ugly. Hope Crean bows out gracefully.

Can you expand?

I guess I don't see it getting ugly other than on the message boards, and not sure how it can get much uglier.

Worst case scenario is he is here another year, and the apathy continues, or he wins, and everyone is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.

We are looking at it from a fan perspective, and only one sport perspective.  As long as the money keeps coming into the University, and no one steps on their D#*cks, then even waiting one more year, he is no trouble with the administration.

I know for a fact that McRobbie and the trustees really like Mr Glass.

New Glass comments to ESPN

A few that I found interesting.

"I'm bullish on Tom," Glass told ESPN. "He's done a really good job with these guys. It's ridiculous to say that someone is coaching for his job for one game and that it would be up or down in one game."

Glass said he met with Crean on Wednesday and reassured him about his job security.

"He's a great coach," Glass said. "He has my full support. I have a great deal of confidence in Tom's body of work. This team overachieved early and then hit a tough patch."

"There is a sense that Tom is only keeping his job because of the buyout," Glass said. "And while that's a big number and a significant amount of money, that's not what is keeping him in the job. I think he needs to be the coach ... I want him to be the coach here."

"The rise and fortunes of Indiana (athletics) is with Indiana basketball," Glass said. "Everybody thinks the guy with the clipboard, the next guy, can be better. But starting over is overrated. You can't be willy-nilly about it."

grrrrrr

Did you not see the stands in the Iowa game. The chants for Brad Stevens and the coach I would say who it was for but the whole team getting booed off the floor.

The powers that be can't be happy right now. I don't care what is said publicly. I think Glass likes Crean and wants to stand by his guy, but he's going to (in my mind) get a proposition. Either get rid of Crean this year and save his own job, or put his faith behind Crean for another year and succeed or fail with him. My bet is Glass cuts the tie, speaks highly of Crean so he can find a nice new home.

I actually think a lot depends actually on how much pressure the BOT and Glass gets via email, phone call, and at the MSU game. I will be watching to see the crowd reaction when Crean is announced in the pre game, throughout the game, and after the game.

Ah, the dreaded "vote of confidence" interview. Many times in the history of coaches, "full support" during the season has turned into a firing at season's end.

Sorry but this is just fan speak. Basketball is lucky if the total value is $22-25 million. Revenue from football is more than that. Boosters at IU pay for basketball and medical donations. Football revenue vs basketball revenue is pretty equal at IU minus donations to the program. Even if you add in donations it is nowhere near the 90% you portray it to be. Big part of his job? Yes, but he has a lot more on his plate than just the basketball program. He has done well overall on his job.

No, students are FORCED to purchase tickets if they want basketball. Don't start with 'they choose to buy them' that's bull. If the tickets were sold stand alone, the student side would be nearly empty. Glass has got more than two losers in sporting programs and has only demonstrated his ability to spend money! Hell, I could be a favorite if I spent $150 mil for sports flash on campus. Results matter, so far, no good.

Received an email from Fred Glass today: very mundane! for your viewing pleasure

XXXXXX,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Like you, I expect excellence both on and off the court for our basketball program. While I'm in total support of our team, staff, and players, I really appreciate your passion for IU basketball.

Go IU!

I guess I would not call that ugly.

Ugly was what I saw on the court.
