Potential coaching change suggestions

Recommended Posts

I hope the new coach has a guy a heck of alot better than Chuck or Kenny for that matter.

I want Chuck retained at least for one year for the sake of Bryant... Assuming the new guy doesn't have a better lead recruiter/track on a good big man that is haha

If 87 knows something and IU is looking at a former Knight player, here are some possibilities:

Alford ( 87 says no)

Calbert

Crews

Fife

Woodson

Wittman

Smart

Guyton

Dakich ( don't think so )

Isiah ( also don't think so )

Damon ( love him but no )

Pat Knight ( are you kidding me? )

Quinn ( really busy selling granola )

Butch Carter

Have I forgotten anyone?

Edit: I am not advocating any of these guys as our next HC. Just listing them.

Great list, I don't like the last six either. Not that they are incapable, just not the right ones now. Cross off Fife, too close to Knight firing for my taste!
Whoever would have to fit well with today's crowd, but relate to the old guard, and be able to infuse some Gene Keady(hate to use his example) toughness and desire to win.

If we hired Guyton it would be incredibly disappointing.

Guys, I'm not sayin Stevens is the next coach at IU but keep a couple things in mind:

1.I'm sure his wife/agent/lawyer left him an out in Boston.

2. I'm sure maybe the greatest basketball mind in the game today ,after watching and coaching against CTC, Stevens knew this day was coming at IU about now.

My issue with a pro coach that's never coached in college is that IMO to be a truly great recruiter you have to really be committed to it. We're already in a recruiting funk, how long will it take a guy that's never done it to get up to full speed? Recruiting is a dirty, time consuming game.

That is my fear as well. That goes for any of the Knight disciples.
