Not say crean is bad coach just questioning some of his choice

If I am not mistaken, when Davis has lost a lot of support and the fans felt they AD was not listening they held the black out. It was not a racial thing but feeling like the AD did not care the fans wanted to show solidarity and frustration.

Not sure we need to go this route but I think it was more peaceful than booing. Glass probably ought to say nothing right now. I am sure Crean would like a vote of confidence but even if Glass plans to keep him he should let the tension fade.

Now, a couple more losses, early uninspired exits from the BTT and NCAA and or exits from a couple starters and all bets are off.

I know that the Michigan student section did a delayed entry to a game this year to voice their displeasure towards Hoke and the AD. They also did some on campus protest rallys. This season isn't completely in the bag like theirs was at that point, so I don't think something like that will or should happen in the next two weeks, but after this season there needs to be some movement for the fans to rally towards.

While the non-student fans, the internet, and the big money players are going to make their voices heard, a part of me feels like the student body is too apathetic to really make a change at this point. Sure people want Crean gone, but there is nowhere near the same unity towards the basketball program like you see with Michigan or Penn State football and their students. Our student section has no identity, no coordinated chants or FT distractions, no real nickname, etc. It's just a large group of students scattered throughout AH dressed as donkeys and pirates if their seats are good enough.

This isn't anything new, and this also is partly why our football attendance is crap. Objectively it's probably a good thing that the students have bigger priorities than uniting in a basketball protest, but that's one part of the pie that isn't going to take the initiative on a large scale to get their concerns heard.

Last game against Rutgers Troy Williams started to get in a rhythm he had a dunk and a heck of a rebound then went down and got to the stripe! Now crean decides he wants to take Troy out?? Why??? Don't you want to ride a hot hand like that?
Then same kind of scenario in the Purdue game we are rolling up 20 to 12 and then we sub like 4 kids out breaks momentum and let em back in the game???
Anyone have thoughts on this?

He often kills momentum by subbing too many at a time. I haven't paid attention lately, but he used to make large substitutions at the 11:00 mark of the first half that led to losing leads we had built up.

You can sub out one starter at a time and add the starter back in with the second sub. Eventually everyone gets a rest without hurting the flow if the game.  We often see 3 or more subs in a game together.  You can hide one weak scorer or defender. It is hard to hide 3. We don't bring in any good defenders with the possible exception of Robinson. Stan is better than the other bench players defensively, but not a great defender at all. Scoring isn't a strong point for our bench unless Zeisloft is making 3 point shots.

I don't think he looks at the team on the floor to make sure he can score and defend well enough to keep, or extend a lead. RMK would teach the fans about the game and we learned why he did things during the game. CTC hasn't taught me anything useful. If he can't explain ti to us, I wonder how well he explains things to the team.

Developing Oladipo into a #2 pick is different from developing a team into a group that understands what they are doing and how they can play well together.

I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure I have learned anything of substance from Crean. Again, like him as a person and as a coach, but get him as far away from Indiana ASAP.

I don't want to muddy up any recruiting threads but CCG's recruiting updates that Crean is actively recruiting 2018 players is downright scary and beyond frustrating. We can't get the guys we want in (most of 2014), 2015, 2016 anyway. I hope his position isn't nearly as secure as he acts like it is.

He has to. Recruiting is typically a 4 year relationship.

We would run through walls for Damon Bailey. Would u run through one for Fred Glass though?

At least you don't want him for head coach.

I love Damon.

Fred Glass is doing a damn good job. I know everyone wants him to fire the coach, but I don't see why he needs to go. He's excellent. Figured you guys would love an IU man.

I'm on the Glass wagon still. He screwed up with the extension. Got a little too giddy and wasn't thinking clearly. Besides that, he seems to be doing a killer job. Isn't IU like 2nd in the nation in overall athletics? I don't think Glass should be hitting the road when Crean is forced out.

When you make a horrible decision that keeps you from making the right decision because of $ that keeps you from making that decision; you need to go. It's not like he's actually coaching the team, but the buyout keeps him from firing Crean. He's riding the dead horse since he has no other option unless he wants to look worse than he already has. Dead man walking either way. Plus, his position is a dime a dozen. His legacy will always be the Crean extension no matter what he does moving forward. Also, what top basketball coach would want to work for him knowing his tight relationship with Crean? Look at Michigan; the AD goes and they get their man. Our situation is very similar.
